Frivilliga Skytterörelsen
Frivilliga Skytterörelsen (FSR) (lit. ''Voluntary Shooting Movement''), formerly known as ''Frivilliga Skytteväsendet,'' was a Swedish shooting sport association and a voluntary defense organization. They considered themselves as in 1860 by the start of the Swedish shooting movement, and together with its youth organization ''Ungdomsorganisation Skytte'' (UO) ceased to exist in 2009. The organization long had close ties to the Swedish Armed Forces and was operated with the help of government subsidies, but these gradually weakened during the years as more and more shooters wanted to separate civilian and military shooting. The Swedish shooting movement originated in the 1860s, and in 1893 the Swedish rifle clubs formally organized themselves in ''Skytteförbundets överstyrelse'' (lit. Shooting sports is a group of competitive and recreational sporting activities involving proficiency tests of accuracy, precision and speed in shooting — the art of using ranged weapons, mainly small arms (firearms and airguns, in forms such as handguns, rifles and shotguns) and bows/crossbows. Shooting sports can be categorized by equipment, shooting distances, targets, time limits and degrees of athleticism involved. The Swedish Shooting Movement
The Swedish shooting movement ( sv, Skarpskytterörelsen) was a voluntary defense movement which started in Sweden in the 1860s inspired by similar foreign movements like the National Rifle Association of the United Kingdom and the Schweizerischer Schützenverein in Switzerland. The movement lasted until 2009 when the association Frivilliga Skytterörelsen (lit. the ''Voluntary Shooting Movement'') was dissolved and merged into the Swedish Shooting Sport Federation. Background Among the initiators of the Swedish shooting movement were well known authors, such as Viktor Rydberg and Sven Adolf Hedlund in Gothenburg, as well as August Blanche and Lars Johan Hierta in Stockholm. Swedish Armed Forces
The Swedish Armed Forces ( sv, Försvarsmakten, "the Defense Force") is the government agency that forms the armed forces of Sweden, tasked with the defense of the country as well as with promoting Sweden's wider interests, supporting international peacekeeping, and providing humanitarian aid. It consists of the Swedish Army, the Swedish Air Force and the Swedish Navy, as well as a military reserve force, the Home Guard. Nordic field biathlon (''Norwegian'': skifeltskyting) is a combined cross-country skiing and shooting sport discipline within Det frivillige Skyttervesen. The Swedish Shooting Sport Federation ( sv, Svenska Skyttesportförbundet, SvSF) is a Swedish sport shooting association founded in 2009 by merging the three former organisations Swedish Sport Shooting Association (''Svenska Sportskytteförbundet'', SSF), Frivilliga Skytterörelsen (FSR) and Skytterörelsens Ungdomsorganisation (Skytte UO). Norges Skytterforbund (NSF), literally the Norwegian Shooting Association, is a Norwegian umbrella organization for shooting sports, and is internationally affiliated with the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF), Fédération Internationale de Tir aux Armes Sportives de Chasse (FITASC) and Precision Pistol Competition (WA1500). De Danske Skytteforeninger
De Danske Skytteforeninger DDS (The Danish Shooting Associations) founded in 1862 was Denmark's oldest sports organization until it was merged with Danske Gymnastik- & Idrætsforeninger 1 January 2013. After the merger DDS was split in two with ''DGI Skydning'' (''DGI Shooting'') administering competitions, weapons registration, political and organizational issues, while ''Skydebaneforeningen Danmark'' (''Shooting Range Association of Denmark'') handles advice and financial support to clubs and shooting ranges. The headquarters are in Vingsted, between Vejle and Billund, and has one of Northern Europe's largest and most comprehensive shooting ranges.
