Friedrich Wilhelm Bossann
Friedrich Wilhelm Bossann (1756 – 27 November 1813) was a German stage actor and theatre director. Life Born in Berlin, Bossan's origin, youth and education are unknown. As an actor, he appeared in comic and tragic father roles with the Jean Tillyschen Society in 1777, as a guest with Karl Theophil Döbbelin and later with the troupe G. F. W. Großmann. In 1786, he joined the Neuhausische Theatergesellschaft, which he took over at the age of 30 and gave it his name. He was initially the theatre director for Prince Leopold III, Duke of Anhalt-Dessau. Today's Anhaltisches Theater emerged from the theatre ensemble he directed. His actors included, among others Ferdinand Ochsenheimer. In 1807, he was appointed ducal court theatre director (opera and drama combined). During the German Campaign of 1813 he volunteered to serve in the military hospital administration. Karl Theophil Döbbelin
Karl Gottlieb Döbbelin (Karl Theophilus Döbbelin, also Carl Theophil Döbbelin as well as Doebelin or Döbelin (27 February 1727 – 10 December 1793) was a German theatre director and actor. Life Born in Königsberg in der Neumark, Döbbelin studied aw at the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg, where he had to flee early without a degree because of involvement in a tumult, and joined the society of Friederike Caroline Neuber in 1750. After years with wandering troupes of actors, he founded his own troupe, but he had to give it up after a short time. Also a second society, which he formed in 1757 and with which he played in the Rhine area, disbanded after one year. Leopold III, Duke Of Anhalt-Dessau
Leopold III Frederick Franz, Duke of Anhalt-Dessau (10 August 1740 – 9 August 1817), known as "Prince Franz" or "Father Franz", was a German prince of the House of Ascania. From 1751 until 1807 he was reigning prince of the Principality of Anhalt-Dessau and from 1807 the first Duke of the Duchy of Anhalt-Dessau. A strong supporter of the Enlightenment, Leopold undertook numerous reforms in his principality and made Anhalt-Dessau one of the most modern and prosperous of the small German states. An Anglophile, Leopold also extended and altered the old gardens of Oranienbaum that were laid out in Dutch style to create the first and largest of the English parks of his time, renamed the Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm. Anhaltisches Theater Dessau is a theatre in Dessau, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, which was called Landestheater Dessau until 1984. It is offering drama, musical theatre (operas, operettas, musicals), ballets, concerts of the orchestra, and puppetry. Ferdinand Ochsenheimer
Ferdinand Ochsenheimer (17 March 1767 – 2 November 1822) was a German actor and entomologist (lepidopterist). Life Ochsenheimer was born and brought up in Mainz (then in the Electorate of Mainz) and began to show an interest in butterflies and moths in his early youth. At the age of twelve he was apprenticed with a saddler but when his intellectual abilities were recognized friends of his father's enabled him to study natural history at the university. On 16 September 1788 he received his degree of ''Doktor der Philosophie''. He found employment as an educator with Stadtkommandant von Dallwigh in Mannheim, then with Baron von Reipelt. In Mannheim Ochsenheimer wrote his first stage comedies (''Er soll sich schlagen'', ''Der Brautschatz''). Typhus
Typhus, also known as typhus fever, is a group of infectious diseases that include epidemic typhus, scrub typhus, and murine typhus. Common symptoms include fever, headache, and a rash. Typically these begin one to two weeks after exposure. The diseases are caused by specific types of bacterial infection. Epidemic typhus is due to ''Rickettsia prowazekii'' spread by body lice, scrub typhus is due to ''Orientia tsutsugamushi'' spread by chiggers, and murine typhus is due to ''Rickettsia typhi'' spread by fleas. Dessau
Dessau is a town and former municipality in Germany at the confluence of the rivers Mulde and Elbe, in the '' Bundesland'' (Federal State) of Saxony-Anhalt. Since 1 July 2007, it has been part of the newly created municipality of Dessau-Roßlau. Population of Dessau proper: 67,747 (Dec. 2020). Geography Dessau is situated on a floodplain where the Mulde flows into the Elbe. This causes yearly floods.
