Friedrich Fehr
Friedrich Eduard Fehr (24 May 1862, Werneck - 29 September 1927, Polling) was a German painter in the Historicist atyle. Biography He was born to Kaspar Fehr, a notary, and his wife Anna. He initially attended the Realgymnasium in Würzburg then, from 1878 to 1884, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich with Alexander Strähuber, Gyula Benczúr and Ludwig von Löfftz. A scholarship from the Martin von Wagner Foundation enabled him to make an extended study trip to Italy from 1885 to 1890. Upon his return to Munich, he joined with Ludwig Schmid-Reutte and to establish a private art school, whose students would come to include Emil Nolde, Clara Rilke-Westhoff, and , among many others. In 1896, when the Karlsruhe Artists' Association was founded, he became a corresponding member; promoting lithography and etching as necessary adjuncts to an artistic education. Wilhelm Hempfing
Wilhelm Hempfing (15 July 1886 – 6 June 1948) was a German painter and printmaker. Life and work He was born in Schönau. He was a master student at the Kunstakademie Karlsruhe, where he studied with Friedrich Fehr. He also learned etching and printmaking techniques from . After completing his studies, he travelled extensively, to Italy, Spain, France, England and North Africa. He was given "Special Importance" under the Nazi regime so, between 1937 and 1944, he had several exhibitions at the Große Deutsche Kunstausstellung in the Haus der Kunst in Munich. At least one of his works is known to have been purchased by Hitler, the nude "Sitzende Blondine" (Sitting Blonde), which bore a striking resemblance to Eva Braun. An academy (Attic Greek: Ἀκαδήμεια; Koine Greek Ἀκαδημία) is an institution of secondary or tertiary higher learning (and generally also research or honorary membership). Hermann Billing
Hermann Billing (February 7, 1867, Karlsruhe – March 2, 1946, Karlsruhe) was a German Art Nouveau architect and designer. He attended high school, Kunstgewerbeschule and architectural college, but completed none of them. Funded by his wealthy first wife, he started his work by taking part in competitions. He gained reputation for his avantgarde ideas and subsequently contracts for public buildings. After 1920, he was professor at the Academy of Fine Arts, Karlsruhe and the University of Technology. Dutch Golden Age painting is the painting of the Dutch Golden Age, a period in Dutch history roughly spanning the 17th century, during and after the later part of the Eighty Years' War (1568–1648) for Dutch independence. The new Dutch Republic was the most prosperous nation in Europe and led European trade, science, and art. The northern Netherlandish provinces that made up the new state had traditionally been less important artistic centres than cities in Flanders in the south.
