Frieda Werden
Frieda Lindfield Werden (born 1947) is an Americans, American and Canadians, Canadian radio producer. She is the co-founder and producer of the weekly radio series ''WINGS: Women's International News Gathering Service'', which debuted in 1986 and has been in weekly radio syndication, syndication for more than twenty-seven years. Produced by and about women, ''WINGS'' broadcasts on non-commercial radio stations worldwide. Early life Werden was born Linda Catherine Samfield in Austin, Texas. In 1972, she formally changed her name to Frieda Lindfield Werden. She lived in several other US cities before emigrating to Canada in 2002. Work in Media Werden began producing radio with the Longhorn Radio Network in 1973. Her early radio series included ''Women Today'', a show about feminist movements in Texas. Grassroots Radio Coalition
The Grassroots Radio Coalition is a coalition of community media activists. The GRC has a mailing list and holds a conference every year, but has so far not incorporated. There are no dues, no hierarchy and no bylaws. At the GRC11 in 2006, conference attendees decided to establish a steering committee to help coordinate coalition issues. Mission statement The coalition views itself as an offshoot of public radio that emphasizes community access and volunteer involvement in radio station operations. The National Campus and Community Radio Association/L'Association nationale des radios étudiantes et communautaires (NCRA/ANREC) is a non-profit organization of campus radio and community radio stations in Canada. Genevieve Vaughan (born November 21, 1939) is an American expatriate semiotician, peace activist, feminist, and philanthropist, whose ideas and work have been influential in the intellectual movements around the Gift Economy and Matriarchal Studies. Her support also contributed heavily to the development of the global women’s movement. Background Vaughan was born and grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. During her childhood, her family became wealthy through oil, and she developed a consciousness of the great disparity of wealth between her family and others'.
