Holger Sinding-Larsen
Peter Andreas Holger Sinding-Larsen (5 July 1869 – 12 December 1938) was a Norwegian architect. He is most associated with his work at Akershus Fortress, where he was a member of the restoration committee and architect from 1905 to 1922. Biography Sinding-Larsen was born in Christiania (now Oslo), Norway. He was the son of Alfred Sinding-Larsen (1839–1911) ) and Elisabeth Lange (1842–1887). He was a brother of physician Christian Magnus Sinding-Larsen, colonel Birger Fredrik Sinding-Larsen and painter Kristofer Sinding-Larsen. Sinding-Larsen began his education at Kristiania tekniske skole (now Oslo ingeniørhøgskole) from 1885 to 1889 and received training from Herman Major Schirmer during surveying in Gudbrandsdalen. Ivar Kleiven
Ivar Kleiven (10 July 1854 – 19 February 1934) was a Norway, Norwegian politician, historian and poet. He is most remembered as a collector of local folklore. Background Ivar Jakobsson Kleven was born in Vågå, Oppland. Kleven grew up on the small farm Kleven (''Søre Kleivi'') in Ottadalen. His parents were Jacob Ivarsson Snerle (later Kleven) (1803–1884) and Brit Knutsdotter Svarvarhaugen (1824–1916). Kleven attended one year at Seljord Folkehøgskule (1885–1886), when Viggo Ullmann was the headmaster. Kleven joined the local council board where he served from 1888 to 1905. From 1892, he served as chairman of the school board and from 1900 to 1903 he was a deputy to the Parliament of Norway from the Norwegian Liberal Party. Halvdan Koht
Halvdan Koht (7 July 1873 – 12 December 1965) was a Norwegian historian and politician representing the Labour Party. Born in the north of Norway to a fairly distinguished family, he soon became interested in politics and history. Starting his political career in the Liberal Party, he switched to the Labour Party around the turn of the 20th century. He represented that party in the Bærum municipal council for parts of the interwar period. He was never elected a member of Parliament, but served nonetheless as Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1935 to 1940, as part of the government-in-exile following Germany's invasion of Norway. In the latter capacity he sought to preserve Norway's neutrality in the Second World War, a decision that garnered him political infamy. Growing discontentment with Koht's political decisions ultimately led to his exit from the cabinet. Sigmund Olaf Plytt Mowinckel (4 August 1884 – 4 June 1965) was a Norwegian professor, theologian and biblical scholar. He was noted for his research into the practice of religious worship in ancient Israel. Life Mowinckel was born at Kjerringøy in 1884Sæbø, M. Magnus Olsen
Magnus Bernhard Olsen (28 November 1878 – 16 January 1963) was a Norwegian philologist who specialized in Old Norse studies. Born and raised in Arendal, Olsen received his degrees in philology at Royal Frederick University in Kristiania, where he became a protége of Sophus Bugge. After Bugge's death, Olsen succeeded him in 1908 as Professor of Old Norwegian and Icelandic Literature at Royal Frederick University. In this capacity, Olsen taught generations of Norwegian academics and teachers. His field of research centered on runology and Old Norse toponymy. Olsen was particularly interested in using evidence from runes and toponymy for the study of Old Norse religion. Just Knud Qvigstad (4 April 1853 – 15 March 1957) was a Norwegian philologist, linguist, ethnographer, historian and cultural historian. He was also a headmaster in Tromsø, and a politician for the Conservative Party who served as mayor of Tromsø and as Minister of Education and Church Affairs. Nikolaus Gjelsvik (11 April 1866 –14 November 1938) was a Norwegian jurist and law professor. He was born at Vevring in Sunnfjord. He served as a professor at the University of Kristiania (now University of Oslo) from 1906. Fredrik Stang (27 December 1867 – 15 November 1941) was a Norwegian law professor and politician for the Conservative Party. He served as a Member of Parliament, leader of the Conservative Party, Minister of Justice and the Police, Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, and Rector of The Royal Frederick University.
