Friday Film Special
The ''Friday Film Special'' was a slot for children on the UK television network BBC1, shown between 1985 and 1989. Every Friday during each season, they showed a children's film, made by the Children's Film Foundation. The films were mostly from the 1970s and 1980s, with some from the 1960s. BBC One is a British free-to-air public broadcast television network owned and operated by the BBC. Children's Film Foundation
The Children's Film Foundation (CFF) was a non-profit organisation which made films for children in the United Kingdom originally to be shown as part of childrens' Saturday morning matinée cinema programming. The films typically were about 55 minutes long. History The Foundation was formed in 1951 following the Wheare report that criticised the suitability of American programming for Saturday morning pictures. Mary Field was appointed chief executive. The Foundation was initially funded by the Eady Levy (a tax on box office receipts), receiving 5% of the Levy and the initial budget was £60,000 per year. The Foundation made around six films a year; most lasted less than an hour and were shot in less than two weeks. Sammy's Super T-Shirt
''Sammy's Super T-Shirt'' is a British family film made by the Children's Film Foundation in 1978. Synopsis Pint-size Sammy Smith's (Reggie Winch) greatest ambition is to become a sporting superstar. With the aid of his Caribbean, West Indian friend Marvin (Lawrie Mark) and the famous Professor Hercules's body-building course, Sammy is training for the long distance running championship. Two bullies, Sammy's rivals in the race, throw his 'lucky' Tiger T-shirt through the window of a research laboratory. In trying to get it back, Sammy upsets some electrical apparatus and in the resultant explosion the T-shirt is transformed into a source of tremendous power. The chief scientist, Mr. Trotter (Julian Holloway), and his boss, Mr. Becket (Richard Vernon), decide to exploit this discovery for their own ends, but Sammy and Marvin escape with the shirt, which enables Sammy to jump over the high factory wall, to stop the crooks car with one hand, and to run down the road like a rocket. ...

Plot

Set in the fictional village of Llynfawr, Steve (Andrew Ashby) runs away from home after an argument with his father. His sister Maureen (Jayne Collins) enlists the help of his friend Paul (Toby Bridge) to find him, although Paul is initially unwilling to help. He eventually finds Steve in an abandoned slate quarry.

''The Boy Who Turned Yellow'' (1972) is the last film collaboration by the British filmmakers Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger, and the last theatrical film directed by Michael Powell. The film was made for the Children's Film Foundation. Plot John (Mark Dightam) loses one of his pet mice, Alice, whilst on a school trip to the Tower of London. Upset back in class, he is sent home by his teacher for not paying attention during a lesson on electricity. Later that day on the London Underground, the train and everyone in it suddenly turns bright, vivid yellow.
