Fribourg Olympic Basket
Fribourg Olympic Basket, commonly known as Fribourg Olympic, is a Swiss professional basketball club that is based in Fribourg. Due to name sponsorship reasons, the former name of the club was Benetton Fribourg. The club is a seventeen-time Swiss Basketball League champion. History Fribourg Olympic competed in seven seasons of the original version of the EuroLeague, the top-level European competition, when it was run by FIBA, due to being the Swiss League champions. In all those seasons, the club only qualified two times for the competition's second round, by winning their previous series. In 2007, Fribourg Olympic competed in the European-wide secondary competition, the 2007–08 ULEB Cup regular season, but they ended up in the last position of their group. In the 2015–16 season, Fribourg won its first Swiss Basketball League (SBL) title in eight years. In the 2017–18 season, Fribourg won its seventeenth Swiss national title. The Swiss Basketball League, also known as SB League or SBL, is the top-tier professional club basketball league in Switzerland. It is organized by Swiss Basketball. The winners of the SBL are crowned Swiss national basketball champions. Currently, twelve teams compete in the league. Historically, Fribourg Olympic is the league's most successful team, as it has won a league-record 19 championships. Until 2017, the league was known as the Championnat LNA. Roberto Kovac, (born 2 May 1990) is a Swiss professional basketball player. He has been a member of the Swiss national basketball team and participated at the 2015 EuroBasket qualification. Club career In August 2019, Kovac signed with Úrvalsdeild karla club ÍR. On 29 August it was reported that Kovac had signed a contract with Croatian club KK Cibona even though he was still under contract for the season with ÍR. In September, Cibona bought up Kovac's contract við ÍR. In December 2019, Kovac left Cibona and signed back with ÍR.
