Fremont Pass is a mountain pass in central Colorado, in the Rocky Mountains of the western United States. It forms the continental divide on the border between Lake County, Colorado, Lake County and Summit County, Colorado, Summit County. The pass is named for John C. Frémont, an explorer of the American West who discovered the pass while traversing present-day Colorado during the 1840s. The pass provides a route between the upper valley of the Blue River (Colorado), Blue River, a tributary of the Colorado River (U.S.), Colorado River, with the headwaters of the Arkansas River to the south. The pass summit is the site of Climax mine, Climax Mine, a molybdenum mine. The pass is traversed by Colorado State Highway 91, State Highway 91. Washoe County () is a county in the U.S. state of Nevada. As of the 2020 census, the population was 486,492, making it Nevada's second-most populous county. Its county seat is Reno. Washoe County is included in the Reno, NV Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Washoe County was created on November 25, 1861, as one of the original nine counties of the Nevada Territory. It is named after the Washoe people who originally inhabited the area. It was consolidated with Roop County in 1864. Washoe City was the first county seat in 1861 and was replaced by Reno in 1871. In 1911, a small band of Shoshone and Bannock led by Mike Daggett killed four stockmen in Washoe County. Garfield County is a county in south central Utah, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census the population was 5,172, making it the fifth-least populous county in Utah; with about 0.98 inhabitants per square mile, it is also the least densely populated county in Utah. Newhall Pass
Newhall Pass is a low mountain pass in Los Angeles County, California. Historically called Fremont Pass and San Fernando Pass, with Beale's Cut, it separates the Santa Susana Mountains from the San Gabriel Mountains. Although the pass was visited in August 1769 by Catalans, Catalan explorer Gaspar de Portolá, it eventually was named for Henry Newhall, a significant businessman in the area during the 19th century. Newhall Pass links the San Fernando Valley to the Santa Clarita Valley and is a main entry to the Greater Los Angeles Area, Greater Los Angeles area. The pass is known for the massive Newhall Pass interchange and the historic San Fernando Tunnel. Weather conditions in the pass can vary from triple-digit heat in the summer to rare below freezing temperatures in winter.
