Freetricity
Freetricity is a company that provides residential solar power systems under the feed-in tariffs in the United Kingdom. It was started by Ben Way and Paul Williams who met on ''The Secret Millionaire''. It is reported that the company has access to between $50 million and $700 million in funding for the UK market. They are registered under the Renewable Energy Assurance Ltd's Renewable Energy Consumer Code (REAL). In 2012, the company entered the biomass heating system and heat pump market under the Renewable Heat Incentive scheme. Ben Way is a serial entrepreneur and author best known for his appearance on ''Secret Millionaire'', '' The Startup Kids'' and as a cast member on '' Start-Ups: Silicon Valley'', he started his first company at the age of 15. He went on to raise £25 million in his teens making him one of the first dot com millionaires. Early life Way grew up in a village in Devon. His parents divorced when he was young. ''The Secret Millionaire'' is a reality television show which originated in the UK, in which millionaires go incognito into impoverished communities and agree to give away tens of thousands of pounds (or tens of thousands of dollars in the US and Australian versions). A heat pump is a device that can heat a building (or part of a building) by transferring thermal energy from the outside using a refrigeration cycle. Many heat pumps can also operate in the opposite direction, cooling the building by removing heat from the enclosed space and rejecting it outside. Renewable Heat Incentive
The Renewable Heat Incentive (the RHI) is a payment system in England, Scotland and Wales, for the generation of heat from renewable energy sources. Introduced on 28 November 2011, the RHI replaces the Low Carbon Building Programme, which closed in 2010. The RHI operates in a similar manner to the Feed-in Tariff system, and was introduced through the same legislation - the Energy Act 2008.
