Four freestyle skiing events were held at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, at the venue in Sauze d'Oulx. There were both men's and women's competition in both ''aerials'' and ''moguls'' events. In mogul (skiing), moguls, the athletes ski down a slope littered with moguls, attempting to get down in as fast a time as possible while also attempting to get points for technique and their two aerial jumps during the course. The aerials events consisted of two jumps, which were judged by air, form and landing. Sauze D'Oulx
Sauze d'Oulx () is a town and ''comune'' in the Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont (northern Italy) located from Turin in the Val di Susa, at the foot of Monte Genevris (). Freestyle skiing has been contested at the Winter Olympic Games since the 1992 Winter Games in Albertville, France. Summary History Freestyle skiing was a demonstration sport at the 1988 Winter Olympics, with moguls, aerials, and ballet events. Alisa Camplin
Alisa Peta Camplin, (born 10 November 1974) is an Australian aerial skier who won gold at the 2002 Winter Olympics, the second ever winter Olympic gold medal for Australia. At the 2006 Winter Olympics, Camplin finished third to receive a bronze medal. Jennifer Heil (born April 11, 1983) is a Canadians, Canadian freestyle skiing, freestyle skier from Spruce Grove, Alberta. Heil started skiing at age two. Jennifer Heil won the first gold medal for Canada in the 2006 Winter Olympics games in Turin, Italy and a silver medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, which was also Canada's first medal in those games.
