Freedom (Sheena Easton Album)
''Freedom'' is the 13th studio album by singer-songwriter Sheena Easton released only in Japan where it charted at #53. The album consists of smooth, catchy dance-pop songs including the singles "Modern Girl '97," "Love Me With Freedom," and "When You Speak My Name." Easton had co-writing credits on songs "One Man" and "Love Will Make You Wise" and producing credits on 3 tracks. The album also includes cover versions of the country/R&B classic Misty Blue, best known by Dorothy Moore's 1973 soul version, and Steve Perry's 1985 rock hit Foolish Heart. Easton released ''Freedom'' on her own label (SkyJay Trax) on May 28, 1997 at the same time she officially opened her website. In February 2007 Fuel Records (Varèse Sarabande) re-released ''Freedom'' with a slip cover and different artwork in (Limited Edition) officially in the United States. Sheena Shirley Easton (; born 27 April 1959) is a Scottish singer and actress. Easton came into the public eye in an episode of the first British musical reality television programme '' The Big Time: Pop Singer'', which recorded her attempts to gain a record contract and her eventual signing with EMI Records. Easton's first two singles, "Modern Girl" and " 9 to 5", both entered the UK Top Ten. She became one of the most successful British female performers of the 1980s. A six-time Grammy nominee in the US, Easton is a two-time Grammy Award winner, winning Best New Artist in 1982 and Best Mexican-American Performance in 1985, for her duet with Luis Miguel on the song "Me Gustas Tal Como Eres". Charles Randolph Goodrum (born July 7, 1947) is an American songwriter, pianist, and producer. Goodrum has written number one songs in each of the four decades since his first number one hit, 1978's "You Needed Me". Goodrum's songs have appeared on the country, pop, jazz, rock, R&B and adult contemporary charts. An accomplished pianist, his music has been used extensively in film and television. The Keane Brothers was an American pop music duo from 1976–82, composed of pre-teens, Tom Keane on piano and John Keane on drums. The duo released four albums and briefly hosted a television variety show on CBS. The brothers subsequently went on to solo careers as songwriters and music producers. "Foolish Heart" is a song written by Steve Perry and Randy Goodrum, and was performed by Perry from his first solo album, ''Street Talk''. It was released as the fourth single from the album in November 1984 and peaked at number 18 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and number two on the Adult Contemporary chart in February 1985. Music video The music video for "Foolish Heart" is unusual in the fact that it is one continuous shot from beginning to end. The setting is a darkened hall with the camera overlooking a balcony rail towards the stage. On the stage, in a blue spotlight, is a boom mic and a stool. Perry walks onto the stage, sits and the song begins. Over the course of the video, the camera pans towards the stage, pauses a brief moment on Perry and then slowly returns to its original position over the balcony rail. Dorothy Moore (born October 13, 1946) is an American blues, gospel, and R&B singer best known for her 1976 hit song, "Misty Blue". Career Moore's parents were Mary Moore and Melvin Hendrex Senior. Her father performed under the stage name Melvin Henderson as a member of the Five Blind Boys of Mississippi. She was raised by her great grandmother and began singing in the church choir at a young age. She was a member of the Poppies with Petsye McCune and Rosemary Taylor when she was attending Jackson State University.
