Frederique Derkx
Frederique Derkx (born 20 February 1994, Heeze) is a Dutch field hockey player. Life Derkx started her hockey career at Hockey Heeze. She later played for HC Den Bosch, where she won two national championships, before moving to Oranje Zwart in 2012. In 2015 she moved to SCHC, where she still plays. Derkx was a member of the junior Netherlands women's national field hockey team that won the field hockey tournament at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics. She was a member of the Netherlands team that won the 2014 Women's Hockey World Cup. In 2016 Derkx did not make the final squad for the Olympics. Following this, she announced her retirement from the Dutch national team, having suffered the second hernia in her career. She played a total of 56 caps for the Dutch national squad. In February 2018 Derkx was surprised to find that she had returned to fitness. Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The stick is made of wood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, or a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass in different quantities. The stick has two sides; one rounded and one flat; only the flat face of the stick is allowed to progress the ball. During play, goalkeepers are the only players allowed to touch the ball with any part of their body. A player's hand is considered part of the stick if holding the stick. Hockey
Hockey is a term used to denote a family of various types of both summer and winter team sports which originated on either an outdoor field, sheet of ice, or dry floor such as in a gymnasium. While these sports vary in specific rules, numbers of players, apparel and, notably, playing surface, they share broad characteristics of two teams playing against each other to propel a ball or disk into a goal with a stick.
