Frederiksborg Latin School
Frederiksborg Latin School (Danish: Frederiksborg Latinskole) is a former latin school in Hillerød, Denmark. The school changed its name to Frederiksborg State School (Danish: Frederiksborg Statsskole) in 1903. The school moved to new premises in 1958 and is now called Frederiksborg Gymnasium. Its old building at Søndre Jernbanevej 4A was built to a Neoclassical design by Jørgen Hansen Koch in 1836. It was listed on the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1945. History The first building The first latin school in Hillerød opened in 1566 but it closed again in 1586. A new school was established in connection with the completion of Frederiksborg Castle on 29 March 1630 but the school building was not completed until 1633. It was called Frederiksborg Lærde Skole. Neoclassical architecture is an architectural style produced by the Neoclassical movement that began in the mid-18th century in Italy and France. It became one of the most prominent architectural styles in the Western world. The prevailing styles of architecture in most of Europe for the previous two centuries, Renaissance architecture and Baroque architecture, already represented partial revivals of the Classical architecture of ancient Rome and (much less) ancient Greek architecture, but the Neoclassical movement aimed to strip away the excesses of Late Baroque and return to a purer and more authentic classical style, adapted to modern purposes. Oluf Lundt Bang (lawyer)
OlOluf Lundt Bang (11 September 1731 - 27 September 1789), also known as Ole Bang, was a Danish lawyer who ended his career as president of Hof- og Stadsretten. During the Struense affair, he served both as prosecutor in the trial against queen Caroline Matilda and as defence attorney in the trial against Enevold Brandt. In 1777, he was ennobled under the name de Bang. He was the father of playwright Baltsasar Bang and landowner Niels Bang. Early life and education Bang was born at Egebjerggaard at Nykøbing Sjælland, Holbæk County, the son of Niels Christian Bang (1697–1760) and Cathrine Marie Kjær (ca. 1704–43). Peter Georg Bang (7 October 1797 – 2 April 1861) was a Danish politician and jurist. He served as the Prime Minister of Denmark 1854–1856. Biography Bang was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. His parents were Jacob Hansen Bang (1770-1841) and Anna Cathrine Sophie Østrup (1779-1820). Frederiksborg Castle
Frederiksborg Castle ( da, Frederiksborg Slot) is a palatial complex in Hillerød, Denmark. It was built as a royal residence for King Christian IV of Denmark-Norway in the early 17th century, replacing an older castle acquired by Frederick II and becoming the largest Renaissance residence in Scandinavia. On three islets in the ''Slotssøen'' (castle lake), it is adjoined by a large formal garden in the Baroque style. After a serious fire in 1859, the castle was rebuilt on the basis of old plans and paintings. Thanks to public support and the brewer J. C.
