Frederick Orr-Lewis
Sir Frederick Orr Orr-Lewis, 1st Baronet (11 February 1860 – 18 November 1921) was a Canadian businessman. Orr-Lewis (he used both names as a surname, sometimes hyphenated) was born in Hamilton, Canada West, and raised in Montreal, Canada East. He was the son of William Thomas Lewis, a Welsh immigrant. He joined his father's business, Lewis Brothers, and eventually became president. He was also instrumental in setting up and became president of Canadian Vickers Ltd, the Canadian arm of the British shipbuilding and armaments giant, Vickers. Many Royal Navy ships were built in the company's Canadian yards during the First World War, and for this, in the 1920 New Year Honours, Orr-Lewis was created a baronet. In 1896, Orr-Lewis married Maude Booth. Orr-Lewis survived the sinking of RMS ''Lusitania'' on 7 May 1915, but his health was irreparably damaged. Hamilton is a port city in the Canadian province of Ontario. Hamilton has a population of 569,353, and its census metropolitan area, which includes Burlington and Grimsby, has a population of 785,184. Enfield was a local government district in Middlesex, England from 1850 to 1965. History The parish of Enfield adopted the Public Health Act 1848 in 1850, and formed a local board of health of 12 members to govern the area. The local board's area was reconstituted by the Local Government Act 1894, and became Enfield Urban District. Enfield Urban District Council replaced the local board, and was divided into four wards each returning three councillors: Town, Chase & Bull's Cross, Ordnance and Green Street & Ponders End. In 1909 two new wards, Bush Park and Hadley Wood & Cockfosters were formed and the UDC increased to 18 councillors. The Orr-Lewis Baronetcy, of Whitewebbs Park in the parish of Enfield in the County of Middlesex, was a title in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. It was created on 12 February 1920 for the Canadian businessman Frederick Orr-Lewis. The title became extinct on the death of his only son Duncan, the second Baronet, in 1980. Frederick Orr-Lewis owned the estate of Whitewebbs Park in Enfield.
