Frederick Hall (6 February 1860 – 21 August 1948), often known as (and signing his work as) Fred Hall, was an English impressionist painter of landscapes, rustic subjects, and portraits who exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Paris Salon, where he was awarded a gold medal in 1912. He was an important member of the Newlyn School, in Cornwall, and is notable for both his series of witty caricatures of his fellow Newlyn artists (including Frank Bramley, Stanhope Forbes, and Norman Garstin) and his artistic development away from the strict realism of the Newlyn School towards impressionism. Life and career Born in Stillington, Yorkshire, Hall studied art at the Lincoln School of Art between 1879 and 1881, before moving on to study under Charles Verlat in Antwerp. Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Frederick Henry Hall, 1st Baronet, (7 October 1864 – 28 April 1932) was a British businessman and politician. During World War I he was active in recruiting men for 'Kitchener's Army'. Early life Hall was born on 7 October 1864, the son of Herbert William Hall, JP for Surrey. Frederick William Hall, (21 February 1885 – 24 April 1915) was an Irish-Canadian recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Life Hall was born in Kilkenny, Ireland on 21 February 1885. His father was a British Army soldier from London. Hall emigrated to Canada approximately 1910, and lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was 30 years old, and a Company Sergeant-Major in the 8th (Winnipeg Rifles) Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force during the First World War when he performed a deed for which he was awarded the Victoria Cross. Frederick Wilson Hall (February 22, 1908 – July 7, 1984) was an associate justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court from 1959 to 1975. Hall was born in Pittsburgh on February 22, 1908, the son of Peter B. Hall and Rachel (Crispin) Hall. He graduated from Rutgers University and Harvard Law School. He founded and practiced law at the firm of Wharton and Hall. Hall was a Democrat. He sat on the New Jersey Superior Court from 1953 to 1959 and on the New Jersey Supreme Court from 1959 to 1975 in an era known as the Weintraub Court. Hall wrote the decision in the 1975 case ''Southern Burlington County N.A.A.C.P. v. Mount Laurel Township'' (commonly called ''Mount Laurel I''), which affects affordable housing policy in New Jersey. He married Jane R. Armstrong on July 18, 1936. Frederick Wilkinson Hall (18 November 1917 – 8 January 1989) was an English footballer who played for Sunderland as a defender. Club career Hall arrived at Sunderland from Blackburn Rovers in 1946, and made his debut for the club on 31 August 1946 against Derby County in a 3–2 at Roker Park.
