Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) is a K5-12 public school system serving the residents of Frederick County, Maryland. The system includes several schools to serve the educational needs of the youth in Frederick and the surrounding areas of Frederick County. The district consists of sixty-seven schools as of the 2014–2015 school year. As of the 2017–2018 school year, there were 42,204 students and 5,771 employees in the district. Brunswick High School (BHS) is an American public high school located in Brunswick, Frederick County, Maryland, United States. The school serves the communities of Brunswick, Burkittsville, Jefferson, Knoxville, Point of Rocks, and Rosemont. There have been plans to demolish the current building and to build a new high school nearby. The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) is a consortium featuring two states, the District of Columbia, the Department of Defense Educational Activity, and the Bureau of Indian Education, that work to create and deploy a standard set of K–12 assessments in Mathematics and English, based on the Common Core State Standards. The PARCC consortium was awarded Race to the Top assessment funds in September 2010 by the U.S. Department of Education to help in the development of the K–12 assessments. Monrovia is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Frederick County, in the U.S. state of Maryland. As of the 2020 census it had a population of 2,702. The ZIP code for the area is 21770. Etymology Though a post office was established in Monrovia on January 15, 1833, it is not known that the town was named Monrovia in the 1830s. In the 1820s, the town was known as "Hall Towne," likely after Nicholas Hall, a founder of New Market.
