Frederick Barrett
Frederick William Barrett (10 January 1883 – 3 March 1931) was a British stoker. After having served as a stoker on several ships, on 6 April 1912, he was hired on board the RMS ''Titanic'' as lead stoker. On April 15, 1912, while the ship was sinking, Barrett boarded lifeboat No. 13 and took command of it, thus surviving the disaster. He later testified before commissions of inquiry into the sinking of the ship and continued to work in the navy until the 1920s. In 1923, after losing his wife Mary Anne Jones, he remained in Liverpool and worked ashore as a logger. He died of pulmonary tuberculosis in 1931. William Alden Smith
William Alden Smith (May 12, 1859 – October 11, 1932) was a U.S. Representative and U.S. Senator from the state of Michigan. After the 1912 sinking of the ''Titanic'', Smith chaired the Senate hearings into the disaster. The audience was somewhat amused at his questions, which appeared to reveal great ignorance of the shipping world, though he claimed he was seeking simple answers for the benefit of the public. His report led to major reforms in maritime safety. Early career Smith was born in Dowagiac, Michigan to George Richardson and Leah Margaret (Allen) Smith and attended the common schools. He moved with his parents to Grand Rapids in 1872, where he attended school, sold popcorn, and was a newsboy and messenger boy. Niall Sheehy (actor)
Niall Sheehy was a Gaelic footballer from Tralee, County Kerry. He played Gaelic football and hurling with his local club John Mitchels, he also played hurling with Austin Stacks. He was also a member of the senior Kerry county football team from the 1958 until 1965, where he was nicknamed "Eusébio" for his kicking ability. He also played for the Kerry county hurling team. His father was John Joe Sheehy. His brothers - Seán Óg and Paudie - both won All-Ireland titles with Kerry in the 1960s. Sheehy captained Kerry to the All-Ireland final in 1964, but lost out to Galway. He also won an All-Ireland Junior Hurling Championship medal in 1961, Kerry's first All Ireland Hurling title since 1891, as well as 3 National Hurling League Div 2 titles. Ciarán McMenamin (born 1 October 1975) is a Northern Irish actor and author. Early life McMenamin was born in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, where he attended St Michael's College.
