Frederick Brown Moorehead (14 October 1875-1944) was an oral surgeon, and led a campaign for what is now the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry to become part of the University of Illinois. The University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry evolved from the Columbian Dental College, founded in Chicago in 1891. The Chicago Dental Infirmary was the first dental school in Chicago. It only accepted students that already possessed Doctor of Medicine degrees, making it a post-doctorate school. Training consisted of two courses of lectures in dentistry. A year after opening, the school changed its name to the Chicago College of Dental Surgery. Frederick Bogue Noyes (1872–1961) was an American dentist. His dental career began before the age of ten when he worked as an assistant to his dentist father. Noyes began dental practice before entering dental school (legal at the time), and while a student at Northwestern University Dental School, organized the first course on dental pathology in the United States, and began a long association providing illustrations for the texts of G. V. Black. In 1908, he started a new career as an orthodontist after studying with Edward Angle.
