Frederick Arthur Rodway
Frederick Arthur Rodway (25 March 1880, Hobart, Tasmania – 1 April 1956, Nowra, New South Wales) was an Australian physician, botanist, and plant collector. He collected spermatophytes in New South Wales and Western Australia. Biography F. A. Rodway was a physician based in Nowra, where he had a house and a surgery. He collected botanical specimens primarily in South Coast, New South Wales (NSW). Edwin Cheel published a 1919 paper crediting Rodway with raising the variety ''Leptospermum scoparium'' var. ''rotundifolium'' (described in 1900 by Maiden and Betche) to species status as '' Leptospermum rotundifolium''. F. A. Rodway's daughter was the botanist Gwenda Louise Davis (née Rodway), and his father was the botanist-dentist Leonard Rodway. The NSW Rodway Nature Reserve is named in honour of the family. Hobart
Hobart ( ; Nuennonne/Palawa kani: ''nipaluna'') is the capital and most populous city of the Australian island state of Tasmania. Home to almost half of all Tasmanians, it is the least-populated Australian state capital city, and second-smallest if territories are taken into account, before Darwin, Northern Territory. Hobart is located in Tasmania's south-east on the estuary of the River Derwent, making it the most southern of Australia's capital cities. Gwenda Louise Davis
Gwenda Louise Davis (1911–1993) was an Australian botanist. She is known for her work on embryology, in particular, for work on the embryology of Australian Asteraceae and the genus ''Eucalyptus''. She started her career as a plant taxonomist in 1945 at the New England University College at Armidale (now the University of New England, and was largely responsible for the creation of the Department of Botany there. After a fire in 1958, which destroyed the building housing the Botany Department, she concentrated her research on plant embryology. Leonard Rodway
Leonard Rodway (5 October 1853 – 9 March 1936) was an English-born Australian dentist and botanist. Early life Rodway was born in Torquay Devon, England, the thirteenth child of Henry Barron Rodway, a dentist and inventor of the Rodway life buoy, and his wife Elizabeth, ''née'' Allin. Leonard Rodway was educated in Birmingham and aboard the Thames Nautical Training College ship, ''Worcester'', obtaining double first-class certificates. He served for three years as a midshipman in the merchant service, but decided to follow his father into dentistry. ''Leptospermum rotundifolium'', commonly known as round-leaved tea tree, is a species of flowering plants in the family Myrtaceae and is endemic to New South Wales, naturalised in Victoria and Western Australia. It is an erect shrub with more or less circular leaves but with a small point on the tip, and relatively large pink or white flowers. Description ''Leptospermum rotundifolium'' is an erect shrub that typically grows to a height of more than . The bark on mature specimens is gnarled and slightly flaky. The leaves are thick, more or less circular with a small, blunt point on the tip, mostly long and wide on a petiole about long.
