Frederick A. Thomson
Frederick A. Thomson (1869–1925), sometimes spelled Thompson, was a director of silent films in the United States. He began his directing career in theater. Thomson was credited by Helen Hayes for enabling her debut in ''Jean and the Calico Doll''. She wrote in her 1968 memoir ''On Reflection'' that Thompson persuaded her mother to let her perform in the film for Vitagraph Studios, where he had begun working. The Brooklyn-based troupe traveled by ferry to Fort Lee, New Jersey, to film ''Jean and the Calico Doll'' with Maurice Costello and Florence Turner. Morrison, and Dudley Hawley. The film, filmed in Charleston, South Carolina, is presumed lost. Plot Caroline (Love), a student at a boarding school, attends the wedding of her sister Ethel (Earle), where handsome taxi driver Reginald (Hawley) is to be her date. Reginald's taxi breaks down while giving Caroline a ride, and Caroline is late to the wedding. ''A Parisian Romance'' (french: Un Roman Parisien) is a play written in French by Octave Feuillet and adapted in English by Augustus R. Cazauran. Producer A. M. Plot In sixteenth-century France, Julie de Varion is told that her father, a Huguenot sympathiser, may be freed if she helps to capture Ernanton De Launay, an enemy of the king. In a tavern Julie meets a man who promises to bring her to Ernanton. In reality, the man in the tavern is Ernanton himself, who soon falls in love with Julie. He kills his own servant when the latter insists that she is a spy.
