Fred Wilson (baseball)
Fred Wilson (August 31, 1908 – September 27, 1948), nicknamed "Sardo", was an American Negro league outfielder in the 1930s and 1940s. A native of Palatka, Florida, Wilson was serving time in a Miami prison in the late 1930s when he was offered his release if he would sign with the Newark Eagles. Wilson was the player-manager of the Cincinnati Clowns in 1943, and was selected to play in the East–West All-Star Game that season. Wilson served in the US Army during World War II. Known for his erratic and sometimes violent behavior, Wilson reportedly stabbed teammate Dave Barnhill David Barnhill (October 30, 1914 – January 8, 1983) was an American Negro league baseball pitcher. Barnhill played from 1937 to 1949, mostly with the New York Cubans. He also played for the New York Giants in the minor leagues from 1949 to 1953 ... in 1944, causing Barnhill to miss the season. Fred Wilson (born ) is a former politician in Ontario, Canada. He served as a New Democratic Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1990 to 1995, and was a cabinet minister in the government of Bob Rae. Background Wilson was born in Toronto. He went to school at Algonquin College and the University of Ottawa. After graduation, he joined the army where he was stationed in Kingston, Ontario. After leaving the army he worked at Bell Canada and then as a sector representative at the Workers' Compensation Board in Kingston. Politics Wilson was elected to the Ontario legislature in the provincial election of 1990, defeating incumbent Liberal Larry South by 1,400 votes in the rural Eastern Ontario riding of Frontenac—Addington. He received a BFA from Purchase College, State University of New York. Wilson challenges colonial assumptions on history, culture, and race – encouraging viewers to consider the social and historical narratives that represent the western canon. Wilson received a MacArthur Foundation "genius grant" in 1999 and the Larry Aldrich Foundation Award in 2003. Wilson represented the United States at the Biennial Cairo in 1992 and the Venice Biennale in 2003. Frederic Wilson
Frederic Bonhôte Wilson (21 September 1881 – 19 January 1932), known as Fred or Freddy, was a sporting journalist and, in his youth, a cricketer who played in first-class cricket matches for Cambridge University and amateur teams between 1902 and 1906. He was born and died in London. Wilson was educated at Harrow School and at Trinity College, Cambridge. He was a successful schoolboy cricketer, playing in the Eton v Harrow match at Lord's in both 1899 and 1900, and in the second of these matches he scored 79 and 24 as a middle-order right-handed batsman and took four Etonian wickets with his right-arm slow bowling. At Cambridge, he bowled very little and won a Blue by playing as a reliable batsman in the University Match against Oxford University for three seasons from 1902 to 1904, having failed even to have a trial match in 1901.
