Fred Swift
Frederick Norman Swift (6 July 1938 – 28 April 1983) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Richmond Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He also played first grade cricket with the Eaglehawk Cricket Club in the Bendigo and District Cricket Association. Swift has a special place in the history of the Richmond Football Club as the captain of the drought-breaking 1967 premiership team. He was murdered during a home invasion at his farm at Lockwood, near Bendigo, Victoria, at the age of 44. Career Sandhurst Swift was recruited as a utility player from the Sandhurst Football Club in the Bendigo Football League. The Sydney Swans are a professional Australian rules football club based in Sydney, New South Wales. The men's team competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), and the women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW). The Swans also field a reserves men's team in the Victorian Football League (VFL). The club's origins trace back to 21 March 1873, when a meeting was held at the Clarendon Hotel in South Melbourne to establishing a junior football club, to be called the South Melbourne Football Club. The North Melbourne Football Club, nicknamed the Kangaroos, is a professional Australian rules football club. Fitzroy Football Club
The Fitzroy Football Club is an Australian rules football club currently competing in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA). Formed in 1883 to represent the inner-Melbourne municipality of Fitzroy, the club was a member of the Victorian Football Association (VFA), before becoming a foundation member of the breakaway Victorian Football League (VFL/AFL) in 1897. Fitzroy won a total of eight VFL premierships, of which seven (1898, 1899, 1904, 1905, 1913, 1916 and 1922) were won whilst they were nicknamed the Maroons and one (1944) as the Gorillas. Ray Sorrell
Ray George Sorrell (born 1 January 1938) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with East Fremantle and South Fremantle in the West Australian National Football League (WANFL). A centreman, Sorrell achieved many accolades during his time at East Fremantle. He was a dual Sandover Medal winner, finishing equal first with Neville Beard in 1961 and then winning the award outright in 1963. The 1961 medal was given to Beard on countback but Sorrell was awarded it retrospectively in the 1990s when the league decided to reward those who had lost in a similar fashion. He was also a dual Simpson Medalist, winning both in 1962, one for being best on ground in the Grand Final that year and the other for performance against Tasmania in their interstate match. Jack Clarke (Australian Footballer, Born 1931)
John Kildahl "Stork" Clarke (26 June 1931 – 23 March 1997) was an Australian rules footballer in the (then) Western Australian National Football League (WANFL). Football Clarke played as a ruckman for East Fremantle, making his debut in 1952. In 1957 he won the Sandover Medal as the fairest and best player in the league as well as playing in a premiership-winning team. Raymond Thomas Gabelich (3 July 1933 – 18 July 2000) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Graham Farmer
Graham Vivian "Polly" Farmer (10 March 1935 14 August 2019) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Geelong Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and the East Perth Football Club and West Perth Football Club in the Western Australian National Football League (WANFL). John Todd (footballer)
John Herbert Todd (born 21 May 1938) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the South Fremantle Football Club in the West Australian National Football League (WANFL). Todd won the Sandover Medal in his debut season at just 17 years of age, but his playing career was cut short by a serious knee injury in his second season. While still a player, Todd embarked on a coaching career that spanned over 700 games and lasted over four decades. Jack Sheedy (Australian Rules Footballer)
John Cameron Sheedy (born 28 September 1926) is a former Australian rules footballer and coach. He played for and in the Western Australian National Football League (WANFL) and in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Len Smith (footballer, Born 1912)
Leonard Victor Smith (9 February 1912 – 23 July 1967) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Melbourne Football Club and Fitzroy Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). The older brother of champion full-forward and coach Norm Smith, Len Smith was considered one of the pioneers of modern Australian rules football. Although his actual coaching career was short-lived due to struggles with ill health, his emphasis on speed, constructive handpassing and play-on had particular influence on Ron Barassi and Tom Hafey. Neville Crowe
Neville Crowe (1 June 1937 – 2 September 2016) was an Australian rules footballer who represented in the Australian Football League, Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1950s and 1960s. He also served as club president from 1987 to 1993, and was at the forefront of the ''Save Our Skins'' campaign in 1990, which saved the club from financial ruin. In the 1967 Second Semi-final, Crowe was reported for allegedly striking ruckman John Nicholls (footballer), John Nicholls, and suspended. He subsequently missed Richmond's drought-breaking premiership victory in the 1967 VFL Grand Final, and announced his retirement shortly afterward.
