Fred Shirey
Charles Frederick Shirey (January 12, 1916 - November 1, 1961) was a professional American football player for the Cleveland Rams and the Green Bay Packers. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles 32nd overall in the 1938 NFL Draft. He attended Washington & Jefferson College and University of Nebraska. Latrobe is a city in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, in the United States and part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The city population was 8,338 as of the 2010 census (9,265 in 1990). It is located near Pennsylvania's scenic Chestnut Ridge (Laurel Highlands), Chestnut Ridge. Latrobe was incorporated as a Borough (Pennsylvania), borough in 1854, and as a city in 1999. Washington & Jefferson College (W&J College or W&J) is a private liberal arts college in Washington, Pennsylvania. The college traces its origin to three log cabin colleges in Washington County established by three Presbyterian missionaries to the American frontier in the 1780s: John McMillan, Thaddeus Dod, and Joseph Smith.
