Fred Rutherford
Frederick "Fred" Rutherford is a fictional character in the television sitcom '' Leave It to Beaver''. The show aired October 4, 1957 to June 20, 1963. Fred is portrayed by Richard Deacon. Alan Rachins played the character in the 1997 film adaptation of the series, '' Leave It to Beaver''. Overview Fred is the head of the "Rancho Rutherford" household and is married to Geraldine/Gwendolyn. He is balding, and self-aggrandizing, the father of a son named Clarence (nicknamed "Lumpy" by everyone in town), played by Frank Bank, and a daughter named Violet, played by Wendy Winkelman and later by Veronica Cartwright. Fred in public considers Clarence a model son, boasting about him and defending him whenever he is blamed for troublesome activities. He is shocked if "his boy" misbehaves. Ward Cleaver
Ward Cleaver Jr. is a fictional character in the American television sitcom '' Leave It to Beaver''. Ward and his wife, June, are often invoked as archetypal suburban parents of the 1950s babyboomers. At the start of the show, the couple are the parents of Wally, a 13-year-old in the eighth grade, and seven-year-old ("almost eight") second-grader Theodore, nicknamed "The Beaver". A typical episode from ''Leave It to Beaver'' follows a misadventure committed by one or both of the boys, and ends with the culprits receiving a moral lecture from their father and a hot meal from their mother. Hugh Beaumont portrays Ward in the series and directed several episodes in the later seasons of the show. Max Showalter (appearing as Casey Adams) plays Ward in the series' pilot, "It's a Small World", which aired in April 1957. "It's a Small World" is the television pilot, pilot episode from the Cultural icon, iconic United States of America, American television series ''Leave It to Beaver'' (1957–1963). The pilot (originally proposed as ''Wally and The Beaver'') was first televised April 23, 1957, on the broadcast syndication, syndicated anthology series, ''Studio 57'', without a laugh track nor the series' well known theme song, "The Toy Parade". It never aired as an episode within the series. Following its April 1957 telecast, the episode was subsequently misplaced and was feared lost until a copy was found in a film vault in Illinois. Hugh Beaumont
Eugene Hugh Beaumont (February 16, 1909 – May 14, 1982) was an American actor. He was best known for his portrayal of Ward Cleaver on the television series '' Leave It to Beaver'', originally broadcast from 1957 to 1963; and as private detective Michael Shayne in a series of low-budget crime films in 1946 and 1947. Early life Beaumont was born in Lawrence, Kansas, to Ethel Adaline Whitney and Edward H. Beaumont, a traveling salesman whose profession kept the family on the move. Veronica Cartwright (born April 20, 1949) is a British-American actress. She is known for appearing in science fiction and horror films, and has earned numerous accolades, including three Primetime Emmy Award nominations. Frank Bank
Frank Bank (April 12, 1942 – April 13, 2013) was an American actor, particularly known for his role as Clarence "Lumpy" Rutherford on the 1957–1963 situation comedy television series '' Leave It to Beaver''. Bank was cast in fifty episodes of ''Leave It to Beaver'' between January 24, 1958, until the series finale on May 30, 1963. Thereafter, he was cast as Clarence Rutherford in 101 episodes of the series sequel, '' The New Leave It to Beaver'', which aired on cable television from 1985 to 1989. Beginning in 1973, Bank became a bond broker in his native Los Angeles. His autobiography, ''Call Me Lumpy: My Leave It To Beaver Days and Other Wild Hollywood Life,'' was published in 1997. Bank died of cancer on April 13, 2013, in Rancho Mirage, California, one day after his 71st birthday. He was survived by his third wife, Rebecca, four daughters, and five grandchildren. Leave It To Beaver (film)
''Leave It to Beaver'' is a 1997 American comedy film based on the television series of the same name. Many in-jokes and sub-plots relating to the series are adapted for the film. It features many of the original regular characters, most played by new actors, with some cameos by the original TV cast. Universal Pictures released the film on August 22, 1997. Plot The movie opens with a bakery truck driving down the street, and Beaver and Wally riding together on the latter's bicycle, delivering morning newspapers. Beaver tosses the newspapers wildly into the air with both hands: one of them plops into wet cement, others land on two roofs, one into a dog's mouth, one into a birdbath, one onto a cat, one into a man's leaf-vacuum nozzle, and one onto a painter's head.
