Fred Ridley
Fred Scobie Ridley (born August 16, 1952) is an American amateur golfer and golf administrator who won the U.S. Amateur in 1975, was elected president of the United States Golf Association (USGA) in 2004, and then became chairman of Augusta National Golf Club in 2017. Early life and education Fred Scobie Ridley was born on August 16, 1952 in Lakeland, Florida. He attended Winter Haven High School in nearby Winter Haven, Florida. Amateur career Ridley attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. Lakeland is the most populous city in Polk County, Florida, part of the Tampa Bay Area, located along Interstate 4 east of Tampa. 2010 Eisenhower Trophy
The 2010 Eisenhower Trophy took place 28–31 October at the Buenos Aires Golf Club and the Olivos Golf Club in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was the 27th World Amateur Team Championship for the Eisenhower Trophy and the second to be held in Argentina. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 69 three-man teams. The best two scores for each round counted towards the team total. Each team was due to play two rounds on the two courses. Weather delays on the second day meant that the second round was not completed until the third day and the event was reduced to 54 holes. The leading 36 teams played their third round at Buenos Aires Golf Club while the others played at Olivos Golf Club. 1989 Walker Cup
The 1989 Walker Cup, the 32nd Walker Cup Match, was played on August 16 and 17, 1989, at Peachtree Golf Club, Atlanta, Georgia. The event was won by the Great Britain and Ireland team, 12½ to 11½. It was the Great Britain and Ireland team's third win in the Walker Cup and their first in the United States. Of the previous 31 matches, the United States had won 28, lost 2 and had tied once, at Baltimore Country Club in 1965. Great Britain and Ireland had taken an 11–5 lead after the second-day foursomes, needing just 1½ points from the 8 afternoon singles matches. However, the United States staged a recovery and won 5 and halved 2 of the first 7 matches. The event was won by the United States 16½ to 7½, their eighth successive win. The match was one-sided. The United States led 12–4 after the second day foursomes, already having retained the cup. Sandy Lyle
Alexander Walter Barr Lyle (born 9 February 1958) is a Scottish professional golfer. Lyle has won two major championships during his career. Along with Nick Faldo and Ian Woosnam, he became one of Britain's top golfers during the 1980s. He spent 167 weeks in the top-10 of the Official World Golf Ranking from its introduction, in 1986, until 1989. Lyle was inducted to the World Golf Hall of Fame in May 2012.
