Fred Lindsay
Frederick Lindsay (born March 12, 1946) is a politician and was a provincial Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) in Alberta, Canada. Political involvement Lindsay has been a longtime Progressive Conservative, having served on the Stony Plain board of directors for the last 25 years. He sought election after longtime member Stan Woloshyn retired from the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in 2004. Lindsay was elected to his first term as the Progressive Conservative member for Stony Plain provincial electoral district in the 2004 Alberta general election. He was re-elected to a second term in the 2008 election. The Legislative Assembly of Alberta is the deliberative assembly of the province of Alberta, Canada. It sits in the Alberta Legislature Building in Edmonton. The Legislative Assembly currently has 87 members, elected first past the post from single-member electoral districts. Stony Plain, originally named Stonyplain, was a provincial electoral district in Alberta, Canada, mandated to return a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1905 to 2019. The district returned a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta throughout its history, using the first past the post method of voting for most of its existence but single transferable vote from 1926 to 1957. The district was created in 1905 when Alberta became a province. The riding in its original boundaries stretched from the west Edmonton city limits to the British Columbia border, but over time it was significantly reduced in size. Stanley Woloshyn (born July 17, 1939) is a politician in Alberta, Canada. He was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta as an Alberta New Democrats candidate in 1989. Woloshyn was reportedly a former card-carrying Progressive Conservative member. Before the next election, he crossed the floor to join the Progressive-, Conservative caucus for which he sat for 11 years. The Progressive Conservative Association of Alberta (often referred to colloquially as Progressive Conservative Party of Alberta) was a provincial centre-right party in the Canadian province of Alberta that existed from 1905 to 2020. 2004 Alberta General Election
The 2004 Alberta general election was held on November 22, 2004 to elect members of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. The election was called on October 25, 2004. Premier Ralph Klein decided to go to the polls earlier than the legislated deadline of March 2006. This election was held in conjunction with the 2004 Alberta Senate nominee election. When the election was called, it was expected to be anticlimactic, with Klein cruising to his fourth straight majority, the tenth for his Progressive Conservative Party. Shortly after the drop of the writs, Klein's mother died and all parties suspended their campaigns for several days. 2008 Alberta General Election
The 2008 Alberta general election was held on March 3, 2008, to elect members of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. It was expected to be called early because the governing Progressive Conservatives held a leadership election on December 2, 2006, in which Ed Stelmach was elected to replace Ralph Klein as party leader and Premier. The election was called when Stelmach formally advised Lieutenant Governor Norman Kwong to dissolve the Legislature, which happened on February 4, 2008. With 53% of the popular vote, the Progressive Conservatives won a decisive majority over the Liberal and other parties, despite early suggestions of a closer race. Edward Michael Stelmach (; born May 11, 1951) is a Canadian politician and served as the 13th premier of Alberta, from 2006 to 2011. The grandson of Ukrainian immigrants, Stelmach was born and raised on a farm near Lamont and fluently speaks the distinctive Canadian dialect of Ukrainian. He spent his entire pre-political adult life as a farmer, except for some time spent studying at the University of Alberta. Harvey Cenaiko (born July 15, 1956 in Wakaw, Saskatchewan) is a Canadian former police officer and one-time Solicitor General and Minister of Public Safety for the Province of Alberta. Frank Edward Oberle Jr. (born October 27, 1957) is a Canadian politician who was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta representing the provincial constituency of Peace River as a Progressive Conservative, from 2004 to 2015.
