Fred Wright (cartoonist)
Fred Wright (June 24, 1907 – December 29, 1984) was an American labor cartoonist and activist who created "thousands" of illustrated news strips as a staff cartoonist for the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America (UE). His first published cartoon appeared in ''The Pilot'', a publication owned by the National Maritime Union, in 1939. In 1949, the UE hired Wright as a staff cartoonist, for whom he worked until his death on December 29, 1984. Early life Wright was born on June 24, 1907, in Derby, England. With his family, Wright immigrated to America during childhood. Wright learned to draw from his grandfather, an amateur artist who worked as a striper in automobile factories. As a teenager, Wright played saxophone professionally in clip joints and resorts; in the late 1920s, Wright attended classes at the New York Art Students League (NYASL). Frederick William Wright (born 28 October 1933 in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia) was a Progressive Conservative party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was an investment counsellor and property manager by career. He served in the 32nd Canadian Parliament at the Calgary North Calgary North was a federal electoral district in Alberta, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1953 to 1997. Frederick Eugene Wright
Frederick Eugene Wright (October 16, 1877 – August 25, 1953) was an American optical scientist and geophysicist. He was the second president of the Optical Society of America from 1918-1919. Biography He was born in Marquette, Michigan, and his father was a state geologist. In 1895 his mother took Frederick and his two brothers to Germany where he would complete his education. He was awarded his Ph.D. ''summa cum laude'' from the University of Heidelberg. After returning to the United States, he taught at the ''Michigan College of Mines'' and became the Assistant State Geologist. He moved to Washington D.C. in 1904, joining the United States Geological Survey. He then spent some time in exploration of Alaska. In 1906 he joined the Carnegie Institution as a member of their Geophysical Laboratory. He remained on the staff until his retirement in 1944. Frederick Wright (cricketer)
Frederick Wright (20 June 1855 – 20 November 1929) was an English cricketer. Wright was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm fast. He was born at Sysonby, Leicestershire. Wright made his first-class debut for Leicestershire against Derbyshire at Grace Road in the 1895 County Championship. He made four further first-class appearances for the county, the last of which came against Lancashire in the 1897 County Championship. In his five matches, Wright scored 110 runs at an average of 11.00, with a high score of 31. With the ball, he took 17 wickets at a bowling average of 21.47, with best figures of 5/78. His only five wicket haul came against Derbyshire on debut. Wright was 40 years and 49 days old, the oldest bowler to take five wickets on debut until Santha Moorthy broke the record in February 2020. Alfred Brockwell Wright (born 13 June 1999) is a British racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career Originally from south east London, Wright moved to Manchester at the age of 18 to join the British Cycling Senior Academy, with a focus on the track. In August 2019, Wright joined UCI WorldTeam as a stagiaire for the second half of the season. In November 2019 it was announced that Wright was joining the team, later renamed as for the 2020 season. He was recruited to the team by Rod Ellingworth, the outfit's general manager, who had previously worked for the British Cycling Senior Academy.
