Frazier Reams
Henry Frazier Reams Sr. (January 15, 1897 – September 15, 1971) was an American politician of the United States Democratic Party from Toledo, Ohio. Reams served as a U.S. Congressman from Ohio from 1951 to 1955. Life and career Reams was born in Franklin, Tennessee in 1897. His father was a Methodist minister. Reams served in the United States Army, with the 58th Field Artillery, during World War I, in 1918–1919. He was discharged at the rank of lieutenant. After the war, Reams finished his degree at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, earning a bachelor's degree in 1919. In 1922, he received a law degree from Vanderbilt University. In 1920, Reams was licensed to practice law in Tennessee. In 1922, he moved to Toledo, Ohio, where his brother Glenn was a medical resident at the Toledo Hospital. Thomas Henry Burke (politician)
Thomas Henry Burke (May 6, 1904 – September 12, 1959) was an American politician who represented Ohio in the United States House of Representatives from 1949 to 1951. Early life and career Burke was born in Toledo, Ohio where he attended St. Patrick's grade school and St. John's College. After his formal education, he served in the United States Navy as a pharmacist's mate 1923–1927 and in the Naval Fleet Reserve 1927–1939. He worked for the Dana Holding Corporation, Dana 1928–1937 and was an official of United Automobile Workers Union 1938–1948. Burke was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives in 1941 and 1942. He served as a member of Toledo city council 1944–1948. He was vice mayor of Toledo in 1948. Frank Lausche
Frank John Lausche (; November 14, 1895 – April 21, 1990) was an American Democratic politician from Ohio. He served as the 47th mayor of Cleveland and the 55th and 57th governor of Ohio, and also served as a United States Senator from Ohio for two terms (1957–1969). WTOL (channel 11) is a television station in Toledo, Ohio, United States, affiliated with CBS. It is owned by Tegna Inc., which provides certain services to Fox affiliate WUPW (channel 36) under a joint sales agreement (JSA) with American Spirit Media. Both stations share studios on North Summit Street in downtown Toledo, while WTOL's transmitter is located on Cedar Point Road in Oregon, Ohio. History WTOL-TV began broadcasting on December 5, 1958, as a CBS affiliate with a secondary NBC affiliation, sharing it with then-ABC affiliate WSPD-TV (channel 13, now WTVG) until 1969 when WDHO-TV (channel 24, now WNWO-TV) replaced WSPD-TV as the ABC affiliate. Ohio Penitentiary
The Ohio Penitentiary, also known as the Ohio State Penitentiary, was a prison operated from 1834 to 1984 in downtown Columbus, Ohio, in what is now known as the Arena District. The state had built a small prison in Columbus in 1813, but as the state's population grew the earlier facility was not able to handle the number of prisoners sent to it by the courts. When the penitentiary first opened in 1834, not all of the buildings were completed. The prison housed 5,235 prisoners at its peak in 1955. Prison conditions were described as "primitive" and the facility was eventually replaced by the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility, a maximum security facility in Lucasville.
