Franz Wohlfahrt (footballer)
Franz Bernhard Wohlfahrt (; born 1 July 1964) is an Austrian former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Club career Born in Sankt Veit an der Glan, Carinthia, Wohlfahrt started his career at hometown outfit SV Sankt Veit. He turned professional at FK Austria Wien, where he would spend almost 20 years in two spells, winning six league titles and four domestic cups. In 1996, aged 32, he finally moved abroad, joining Germany's VfB Stuttgart, and being essential as the club reached the final of the 1997–98 Cup Winner's Cup, lost 1–0 to Chelsea FC. Subsequently, he returned to his first club, retiring a few years later with amateurs SC Untersiebenbrunn. Incident at Ajax–Austria Wien On 27 September 1989, Wohlfahrt made the sports headlines when he was hit and injured by a bar, thrown by a home supporter at an Ajax–Austria Wien UEFA Cup match. UEFA Cup Winners' Cup
The UEFA Cup Winners' Cup was a European football club competition contested annually by the winners of domestic cup competitions. The cup was, chronologically, the second seasonal inter-European club competition organised by UEFA. The tournament ran for 39 seasons, with the final edition held in 1998–99, after which it was discontinued. The first tournament was held in 1960–61, but it was organised by the Mitropa Cup's Organising Committee and not recognised by the governing body of European football until 1963, when it was accepted as a UEFA competition on the initiative of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC). From 1972 onwards, the winner of the tournament progressed to play the winner of the European Cup (later the UEFA Champions League) in the European Super Cup. The DFB-Pokal ( is a German knockout football cup competition held annually by the German Football Association (DFB). Sixty-four teams participate in the competition, including all clubs from the Bundesliga and the 2. Bundesliga. It is considered the second-most important club title in German football after the Bundesliga championship. Taking place from August until May, the winner qualifies for the DFL-Supercup and the UEFA Europa League unless the winner already qualifies for the UEFA Champions League in the Bundesliga. The competition was founded in 1935, then called the '' Tschammer-Pokal''. The first titleholders were 1. FC Nürnberg. In 1937, Schalke 04 were the first team to win the double. Sportklub Schwadorf (more commonly known as SK Schwadorf) was an Austrian football club, based in Schwadorf. They were last playing in the First League. The club was known as Trenkwalder Sportklub Schwadorf for sponsorship reasons — ''Trenkwalder'' being the company of chairman Richard Trenkwalder. In 2008, the club merged with VfB Admira Wacker Mödling to become Trenkwalder Admira. History The club was founded as ASK Schwadorf in May 1936, and played its first game on 7 June of that year, against Fischamend, winning 4–3. Listed below are the dates and results for the 2002 FIFA World Cup qualification rounds for UEFA teams. The European section of the 2002 FIFA World Cup qualification acted as qualifiers for the 2002 FIFA World Cup, which is being held in South Korea and Japan, for national teams which are members of the UEFA. Apart from France, who qualified automatically as defending champions, a total of 13.5 slots in the final tournament were available for UEFA teams. The 50 teams were divided into nine groups, five groups of six teams and four groups of five teams. The teams played against each other on a home-and-away basis. The group winners would qualify. Michael Konsel
Michael Konsel (born 6 March 1962) is an Austrian former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Club career Born in Vienna, Konsel started his professional career with First Vienna and moved to local rivals Rapid Wien in 1985. He then played a part in the successful Rapid team in the 1980s, claiming the League crown twice and most prominently losing the UEFA Cup Winners Cup Final 3–1 against Everton in Rotterdam in 1985. He stayed at Rapid for 12 years and captained the side in his last two seasons.
