Franz Bucher
Franz Bucher (born 15 January 1940) is a Swiss artist. He has produced paintings, drawings, woodcuts, etchings, sculptural objects, reliefs, murals, and stained glass. Biography Early life and education Franz Bucher was born in 1940 in Sarnen, Obwalden, Switzerland. He attended schools in Sarnen and St. Michael's College, Zug. From 1957 to 1962, he worked as a painter and decorator. During this time, he worked in places such as Lucerne, Basel and Zürich. Following this, he studied at the Arts-&-Crafts School and at the High School for Applied Arts in Basel and Lucerne. In 1965 he received the Scholarship of the Canton Obwalden. During his time at these schools, Bucher submitted his first works to exhibitions. Career In 1967 Bucher was awarded an Art Teaching Certificate. He married Pia Heer in the same year and moved house to Zug. There, he began teaching art part-time at St. Michael's College and Dr. Pfister's School in Oberägeri until 1967. Obwalden
Obwalden, also Obwald (german: Kanton Obwalden, rm, Chantun Sursilvania; french: Canton d'Obwald; it, Canton Obvaldo), is one of the 26 cantons forming the Swiss Confederation. It is composed of seven municipalities and the seat of the government and parliament is in Sarnen. It is traditionally considered a " half-canton", the other half being Nidwalden. Obwalden lies in Central Switzerland and contains the geographical centre of Switzerland. It is bordered by the canton of Lucerne to the north, the canton of Nidwalden and Uri to the east and the canton of Bern to the south. Aargauer Kunsthaus (English: ''Aargauer Art House'') a Swiss art museum founded in 1959, and located in Aarau. The museum collection includes Swiss art from the 18th-century to the present day; and ''Naturama'', a natural history collection. About Works in the museum art collection include Alberto Giacometti, Jean Tinguely, Richard Long, and Fischli/Weiss. The original building was built between 1956 and 1959 by local architects Loepfe Hänni and Hänngli. In 2003, a new building extension was added to the museum.
