Frans Verschoren
Frans Verschoren (5 March 1874 – 5 December 1951) was a Flemish writer. Biography He was born in Sint-Katelijne-Waver in 1874. After his studies at the normal school, he became a teacher in Lier and in Turnhout. In Lier he had Felix Timmermans as a pupil. He then also became director of the Walcourt and later Boom state secondary schools. He was the author in particular of tales for young people. He died in Westmalle, Belgium, in 1951. Sint-Katelijne-Waver (, old spelling: ''Kathelijne-Waver''; french: Wavre-Sainte-Catherine, ) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises the towns of Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-Waver and Sint-Katelijne-Waver proper. In 2021, Sint-Katelijne-Waver had a total population of 21,197. The total area is 36.12 km2. Westmalle
Westmalle is a village in the Belgian province of Antwerp which is part of the municipality of Malle. History See history of Malle. Tourism Westmalle is primarily known for the Trappist Abbey of Westmalle of the Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance (O.C.S.O.: Ordo Cisterciensium reformatorum), and its brewery. The Trappist monks operate a brewery and also make cheese. In addition, the Monasterium Magnificat of Westmalle is the only monastery of the Annunciade Order in Belgium. Felix Timmermans
Leopold Maximiliaan Felix Timmermans (5 July 1886 – 24 January 1947) is a much translated author from Flanders. He was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature three times. Life Timmermans was born in the Belgian city of Lier, as the thirteenth of fourteen children. He died in Lier at age 60. He was an autodidact, and wrote plays, historical novels, religious works, and poems. His best-known book is ''Pallieter'' (1916). Timmermans also wrote under the pen-name ''Polleke van Mher''. He was a painter and drawer as well as an author. During the first years of the Second World War, Timmermans was editor of the Flemish nationalist ''Volk''. He also attended meetings of the ''Europäische Schriftsteller-Vereinigung'' (European Writers' League), which was initiated by Joseph Goebbels. Boom (, ; ) is a Belgian town, located in both the arrondissement and province of Antwerp. In 2021, Boom had a total population of 18,799. The total area is 7.37 km² (2.85 sq mi). Marie Gevers
Marie Gevers (30 December 1883 – 9 March 1975) was a Belgian novelist who wrote in the French language. She was born in Edegem, near Antwerp. Educated by her mother, she had a special interest in literature. Very early in life, she composed bucolic poetry, encouraged by Verhaeren. Married in 1908 to Jan Frans Willems and mother of Paul Willems, she dedicated her entire life to her family. In fact, one of the distinctive traits of her poetry was the love of her origins and familial roots. In 1917 her first anthology, ''Missenbourg'', was published. Later, around 1930, she began to focus on writing in prose: ''Madame Orpha ou la sérénade de mai'' (1933), ''Guldentop'' (1934) and ''La ligne de vie'' (1937) continue this constant interest in the little people and life in Antwerp.
