Franklin is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Greenlee County, Arizona, United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 92. It is located in southern Greenlee County along U.S. Route 70, west of the border with New Mexico, south of Duncan, and south of Clifton. Residents of Franklin are zoned to Duncan public schools, such ase the nearby community of York as well as Virden, New Mexico. The Morenci Mine is a large copper mine located near Morenci, Arizona, United States. Morenci represents one of the largest copper reserves in the United States and in the world, having estimated reserves of of ore grading 0.16% copper. Virden is a village in Hidalgo County, New Mexico, United States. The population was 152 at the 2010 census. Growth and new construction is almost non-existent, but together with the Arizona sister-village of Duncan to the west, the consolidated area might experience minimal population and infrastructural growth in the next decade. Duncan is a town in Greenlee County, Arizona, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population of the town was 696. In 2018 the estimated population was 789. Duncan is in the Gila River valley, west of the Arizona–New Mexico border. The town limits are on both sides of the Gila, but the primary portion of the town and the entire downtown area lie on the south side of the river. Duncan was founded in the mid 19th century, and the land was added to the United States as a part of the Mexican Cession. The town of Duncan has been destroyed twice by flood and once by fire.
