Frankie Walsh
Frankie Walsh (1936 – 28 December 2012) was an Irish hurler who played as a left wing-forward at senior level for the Waterford county team. Walsh made his first appearance for the team during the 1956 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1970 championship. During that time he won one All-Ireland medal, three Munster medals and one National Hurling League medal. In 1959 Walsh captained the team to the All-Ireland title. At club level Walsh had a lengthy career with Mount Sion, winning twelve county club championship. In retirement from playing Walsh became involved in team management. He trained the Waterford senior hurling team in the early 1970s before later serving as manager of the Mount Sion senior hurling team in the early 1990s. Mount Sion GAA
Mount Sion ( ga, Cnoc Sion) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Waterford City, County Waterford, Ireland. It was founded by teachers in the school of the same name. Although technically separate from the school, the club still maintains a close relationship with the school, sharing the same sports facilities in the city. The club fields teams in both the Waterford Hurling and Gaelic football championships and has had many famous players, including John Keane, Philly Grimes, Tony Browne and Ken McGrath. The club is mainly concerned with the game of hurling and is the most successful in Waterford with 35 county title wins, although they did win 5 county football titles back in the 1950s. Erin's Own GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Waterford City, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The club enters teams in both GAA codes each year, which includes two adult hurling teams and two adult Gaelic football team in the Waterford County Championships. Séamus Power (Waterford Hurler)
Séamus Power (born 1929 in Waterford, Ireland, died 25 June 2016) was an Irish hurler who played for his local club Mount Sion and at senior level for the Waterford county team in the 1950s and 1960s. He first appeared in a Waterford jersey when he played at full-forward for the Waterford minor hurling team defeated by Cork in 1946 and he first played for the senior team in 1949 against Limerick when he came on as a substitute for Davy Power. He was playing for the Roscrea club at that time as he was working there for the Post Office. On his transfer back to the Waterford Post Office he played for the Mount Sion club where he became one of its greatest players, captaining two championship winning teams; hurling in 1958 and football in 1959. Mickey Kelly
Michael Kelly (24 September 1929 – 26 October 2011) was an Irish hurler who played as a left wing-forward for the Kilkenny senior team from 1952 until 1960. Kelly made his first appearance for the team during the 1952 championship and became a regular player over the next decade. During that time he won one All-Ireland winner's medal and three Leinster winner's medals. He captained Kilkenny to the All-Ireland title in 1957. At club level Kelly enjoyed a successful career with Bennettsbridge, winning seven county club championship winners' medals. Playing career Club Kelly played his club hurling with his local Bennettsbridge club and enjoyed much success. He helped 'the bridge' to the county junior championship in 1948 and 1951 before the club moved up to the senior grade. Dunhill GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Dunhill, County Waterford, Ireland. The club enters teams in both GAA codes each year, which includes two adult hurling teams and one adult Gaelic football team in the Waterford County Championships. Ballygunner GAA (nicknamed "The Gunners") is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club located in the parish of St Mary's Ballygunner in Waterford City, Ireland. The are the current All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship title holders. The club, which is exclusively concerned with hurling, is one of the most successful in Waterford.
