Frankfurt City Tunnel
The Frankfurt City Tunnel is standard gauge railway in Frankfurt and the core of the Rhine-Main S-Bahn. The line runs underground for its entire length. Central Station to Konstablerwache The first section was put into operation on 28 May 1978 to Hauptwache. S-Bahn trains began operating on the Taunus Railway (S1), the Main-Lahn Railway (S2), the Limes Railway (S3), the Kronberg Railway (S4), the Homburg Railway (S5) and the Main-Weser Railway (S6) after climbing a ramp under the former postal station in the tunnel and reached the surface about 500 metres east of the central station. The Main Railway service (S14, now S8), was introduced shortly later. The line runs northeast for about 700 metres from the central station to Taunusanlage station, built on the site of the old city walls near the Alte Oper and the Deutsche Bank Twin Towers. Homburg Railway
The Homburg Railway (german: Homburger Bahn ) is an 18 km line from Frankfurt am Main to Bad Homburg in the German state of Hesse. It was opened in 1860 as one of the first railway lines in Germany. It is now part of the Rhine-Main S-Bahn line S5 to Friedrichsdorf. History Early on, there was support in Homburg for an efficient transport connection from Frankfurt in order to increase patronage to its spa and casino. Kronberg Railway
The Kronberg Railway (german: Kronberger Bahn) is now the northern part of Frankfurt S-Bahn line S4, which connects Langen, Frankfurt am Main and Kronberg im Taunusin Hesse, Germany. The route branches off the Homburg line in Rödelheim and continues via Eschborn Süd, Eschborn and Niederhöchstadt to Kronberg. The Limes Railway (german: Limesbahn) is a continuously electrified and single-track railway that runs on the southern edge of the Taunus in the German state of Hesse, connecting the towns of Niederhöchstadt and Bad Soden am Taunus. The Taunus Railway (German: ''Taunus-Eisenbahn'') is a double-track electrified railway line, which connects Frankfurt and Wiesbaden, Germany. It is 41.2 km long and follows the course of the Main on its north side, running quite close to it in some places.
