Frankfort F.C.
Frankfort Football Club is an Irish association football club based in Raheny, Dublin. In the 1921–22 League of Ireland, they were founding members of the League of Ireland. Today they still remain an active junior club fielding teams in various local Dublin leagues such as the Athletic Union League, the United Churches Football League, the Amateur Football League, and the North Dublin Schoolboys/Girls League. The club has been managed by the O'Connor family since it was formed in 1900. Current chairman, David O'Connor, took control of the club in 1999. History Early years Frankfort F.C. was formed in 1900 in the Frankfort Place/Frankfort Cottages district of Dublin, off Amiens Street and near Connolly Station. Saint Anne's Park
Saint Anne's Park ( ga, Páirc Naomh Áine) is a public park situated between Raheny and Clontarf, suburbs on the northside of Dublin, Ireland. It is owned and managed by Dublin City Council. The park, the second largest municipal park in Dublin, is part of a former estate assembled by members of the Guinness family, descendants of Sir Arthur Guinness, founder of the famous brewery, beginning with Benjamin Lee Guinness in 1835 (the largest municipal park is nearby (North) Bull Island, also shared between Clontarf and Raheny). In 1837, they built St Anne's House, a large Italianate-style residence. The house and park were purchased by Dublin Corporation (now Dublin City Council) in 1939. Tom Davis (footballer, Born 1911)
Thomas Lawrence Davis (3 February 1911 – 1987) was an Irish former association footballer who played as a centre forward for several clubs in the League of Ireland and the English Football League. Davis was also a dual international footballer—playing for both the Republic of Ireland (FAI) and Ireland (IFA), scoring a total of five goals in five caps. He was born in County Dublin. Club career Davis spent his early career playing junior football with former League of Ireland clubs such as Frankfort and Midland Athletic before playing in the League of Ireland itself with Shelbourne and then Cork. His goalscoring form brought Davis a trial with Exeter City early in the 1931–32, but it was with Boston Town that he enjoyed his first settled spell in English football. Patrick O'Connell (Irish Footballer)
Patrick Joseph O'Connell (8 March 1887 – 27 February 1959), also known as Paddy O'Connell or Patricio O'Connell, was an Irish footballer and manager. He played as a defender, most notably, for Belfast Celtic, Sheffield Wednesday, Hull City and Manchester United. He has the distinction of being the first player from what is now the Republic of Ireland to play for Manchester United. As an international, he captained Ireland and was a member of the team that won the 1914 British Home Championship. However, O'Connell is probably best remembered for managing several clubs in La Liga. In 1935 he led Real Betis to their first La Liga title and during the Spanish Civil War he took FC Barcelona on a tour of North America. Despite these successes, he died destitute in London in 1959. Rathmines () is an affluent inner suburb on the Southside of Dublin in Ireland. It lies three kilometres south of the city centre. The FAI Cup 1921–22 was the first ever edition of Ireland's premier cup competition, The Football Association of Ireland Challenge Cup or FAI Cup. The tournament began on 14 January 1922 and concluded on 8 April with the final replay held at Dalymount Park, Dublin. An official attendance of 10,000 people watched St James's Gate complete the League and Cup Double by defeating Shamrock Rovers in a fixture marred by violence. Drumcondra () is a residential area and inner suburb on the Northside of Dublin, Ireland. It is administered by Dublin City Council. The River Tolka and the Royal Canal flow through the area. History The village of Drumcondra was the central area of the civil parish of Clonturk, and the two names were used equally for the religious and civil parishes, but the modern suburban district of Drumcondra also encompasses the old Parish of St. Mary. Clonturk had been an alternative name for Drumcondra and the wider area for some time.
