Frank Thomas (comics)
Frank Thomas (1914–1968) was an American Golden Age cartoonist who worked primarily for Centaur Publications. For Centaur he created The Eye, Chuck Hardy, Dr. Hypno, and Solarman (no relation to the Marvel Comics superhero of the same name). Later in his career, he worked for Dell on The Owl, Billy and Bonnie Bee, Buddies and other characters. He wrote scripts for ''Andy Panda'', ''Little Lulu'', ''Woody Woodpecker'' and ''Little Scouts''. Comic strips Also in the 1940s, he did the ''Dinky Doyle'' daily strip. In the following decade, he did the ''Going West'' strip (1951–54), as well as ''Hossface Hank'' ( Al Smith Service, 1955–1964). Eye (Centaur Publications)
The Eye is a fictional comic book character created by Frank Thomas and published by Centaur Publications. The character had no origin story, and existed only as a giant, floating, disembodied eye, wreathed in a halo of golden light. This powerful being was obsessed with the concept of justice, and existed to encourage average people to do what they could to attain it for themselves. If the obstacles proved too great, the Eye would assist its mortal charges by working miracles. Time and space meant nothing to the Eye and it existed as a physical embodiment of man's inner conscience. The Eye appeared in the pages of Centaur's ''Keen Detective Funnies'' for 16 issues (cover-dated December 1939 – September 1940), in a feature entitled "The Eye Sees". The feature began with the book's 16th issue, and continued until the title folded after its 24th issue (September 1940). Henning Dahl Mikkelsen
Henning Dahl Mikkelsen (1915 – June 4, 1982) was a Danish cartoonist, best known for creation of the long running newspaper comic strip '' Ferd'nand'', which he signed as Mik. He was born in Skive, Denmark, and began the pantomime humor strip '' Ferd'nand'' in 1936. Because it had no dialogue or captions, it soon was circulated internationally. After World War II, he came to the United States, where he continued to do the strip while also profiting from California real estate. He became a United States citizen in 1954. In 1970, he turned the strip over to Al Plastino. Mikkelsen died unexpectedly, from a heart attack, in 1982 at age 67. He lived in Hemet, California and is buried at the San Jacinto Valley Cemetery in San Jacinto, California. Protectors (comics)
''The Protectors'' was a 20-issue comic book series published by Malibu Comics from 1992 until 1994. Originally meant to be a six-issue series, response was positive enough that Malibu decided to make the series ongoing. The series was cancelled (along with the rest of the "Genesis" titles) so that, according to Malibu, they could focus more on the "Ultraverse" line. Many of the characters included in the series were taken from heroes created by Centaur Publications, and had fallen into the public domain and revamped by writer R.A. Jones. Some heroes were given new names, such as: Gravestone (formerly Fantom of the Fair, Fantom or Fantoman), Nightmask (Masked Marvel), Thresher (a.k.a. Shark), and Midnight Blue (formerly Blue Lady). (also known as Malibu Graphics) was an American comic book publisher active in the late 1980s and early 1990s, best known for its Ultraverse line of superhero titles. Project Superpowers
''Project Superpowers'' is a comic book limited series published by Dynamite Entertainment beginning January 2008. It was co-plotted by Jim Krueger and Alex Ross, with scripts by Jim Krueger, covers by Alex Ross, and interior art by Doug Klauba and Stephen Sadowski for issue #0, and Carlos Paul for the remainder of the series. Ross is also art director, which includes sketched pages, color guides, and redesigns of most of the characters. Doctor Spektor is a fictional comic book "occult detective" that appeared in Western Publishing's Gold Key Comics.Plowright, Frank ''The Slings and Arrows Comic Guide''.
