Frank S. Kedzie
Frank Stewart Kedzie (May 12, 1857 – January 5, 1935) was president of the U.S. state of Michigan's Michigan Agricultural College (now Michigan State University) from 1915 to 1921. Kedzie Hall, located on campus on the north side of the Red Cedar River was named in honor of his father, Robert C. Kedzie, who was a Professor of Chemistry at Michigan Agricultural College from 1863 to 1902. Michigan State University
Michigan State University (Michigan State, MSU) is a public university, public Land-grant university, land-grant research university in East Lansing, Michigan. It was founded in 1855 as the Agricultural College of the State of Michigan, the first of its kind in the United States. It is considered a Public Ivy, or a public institution which offers an academic experience similar to that of an Ivy League university. After the introduction of the Morrill Land-Grant Acts, Morrill Act in 1862, the state designated the college a land-grant institution in 1863, making it the first of the land-grant colleges in the United States. The college became coeducational in 1870. In 1955, the state officially made the college a university, and the current name, Michigan State University, was adopted in 1964. The Red Cedar River is a tributary of the Grand River (Michigan), Grand River in central Michigan in the United States. The river is approximately long and drains a Drainage basin, watershed of approximately in the Lansing–East Lansing metropolitan area and suburban and rural areas to the east. Name The river was presumably named for the juniper species ''Juniperus virginiana,'' commonly known as red cedar, a plant native to the region. Prior to a 1966 decision by the United States Board on Geographic Names, U.S. Board on Geographic Names, the river was shown as Cedar River on federal maps, despite being known as the Red Cedar River locally. The board's review was prompted by a 1962 letter from Milton P. Adams, then-secretary of the Michigan Water Resources Commission, who noted in his letter that "generations of Michigan State University, M.S.U. students have solemnly and with hearts full sung the glories of their Alma Mater 'on the banks of the Red Cedar.' Jonathan Leigh Rosen (born December 5, 1946, in Flatbush, Brooklyn, New York (state), New York), better known by his radio handle Jonathan L, is an American radio deejay, Radio programming, programmer, and Mass media, entertainment media publisher. He organized his first large music festival for alternative station KUKQ in Phoenix, Arizona in 1989, years before the launch of festivals like Lollapalooza and the KROQ Weenie Roasts. For this reason, he is often called the "father of all radio festivals." History Jonathan L left his parents' Long Island home at age 14 and lived as a street urchin with a gang of juveniles.
