Frank O'Grady
Francis Phillip "Frank" O’Grady (9 October 19006 May 1981) was a senior Australia public servant. He was Director-General of the Postmaster-General's Department from September 1961 until December 1965. Life and career Frank O'Grady was born on 9 October 1900 in Thebarton, Adelaide the first child of Hannah and John Michael O'Grady. Postmaster-General's Department
The Postmaster-General's Department (PMG) was a department of the Australian federal government, established at Federation in 1901, whose responsibilities included the provision of postal and telegraphic services throughout Australia. It was abolished in December 1975 and replaced by the Postal and Telecommunications Department. Two separate legal entities had been established in July 1975 to take over the department's operations: Telecom Australia (colloquially "Telecom"; later became Telstra) and Australia Post. Trevor Housley
Trevor Alfred Housley (31 October 191010 October 1968) was a senior Australian public servant. He was Director-General of the Postmaster-General's Department from 1965 until his death in October 1968. Life and career Trevor Housley was born on 31 October 1910 in Gympie, Queensland. Housley served for four years as chief airways engineer in the Department of Civil Aviation, until 1951 when he joined the Overseas Telecommunications Commission (OTC) as assistant general manager. In 1956, he was appointed to OTC general manager. In the general manager role, Housley led a delegation to the Commonwealth Telecommunications Conference in 1958 which recommended a worldwide telephone cable system be developed. He returned to London in 1960 to convene a management committee responsible for plans to lay the British Commonwealth trans-Pacific cable between Australia and New Zealand.
