Frank McGuirt was a Democratic member of the North Carolina House of Representatives and a former sheriff of Union County, North Carolina. McGuirt was appointed to the legislature in March 2011 to replace Rep. Pryor Gibson, who had resigned. Mark Brody
Mark Allen Brody (born December 6, 1951) is a Wisconsin-born Republican member of the North Carolina House of Representatives. He has represented the 55th district (including constituents in Anson and Union counties) since 2013. Life and career In 1996, he received his Bachelor of Arts at Concordia University, a private Christian University in Mequon, Wisconsin. Brody serves on the board of Union Day School in Waxhaw, North Carolina, a charter school launched in 2016 to serve K–3 students. The North Carolina House of Representatives is one of the two houses of the North Carolina General Assembly. The House is a 120-member body led by a Speaker of the House, who holds powers similar to those of the President pro-tem in the North Carolina Senate. The qualifications to be a member of the House are found in the state Constitution: "Each Representative, at the time of his election, shall be a qualified voter of the State, and shall have resided in the district for which he is chosen for one year immediately preceding his election." Union County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 238,267. Its county seat is Monroe. Union County is included in the Charlotte-Concord- Gastonia, NC- SC Metropolitan Statistical Area. History The county was formed in 1842 from parts of Anson County and Mecklenburg County. Its name was a compromise between Whigs, who wanted to name the new county for Henry Clay, and Democrats, who wanted to name it for Andrew Jackson.
