Frank Edward Burnham Hughes, N.E.A.C (1905–1987) was an English painter and member of the New English Art Club. Life and work Frank Hughes was born at St Pancras, London.Buckman, David, ''Dictionary of Artists in Britain since 1945'', pp. 783-784. Art Dictionaries, Bristol, 2006. He studied at St Martin's School of Art in the 1920s and served in the British Army in WW2. In order to support himself he worked in administration for the London water board. Hughes is best known for his portrayals of "Wild Bill" Guarnere in the HBO miniseries '' Band of Brothers'', Tom Fox in ''Catch Me If You Can'', Tim Woods in '' 24'', and Walden Belfiore in ''The Sopranos''. Frank Hughes College, now Frank Hughes School began as a consolidated private educational institution in Clifton, Tennessee in September 1905. It is currently part of the Wayne County School system. History Frank Hughes College was established in memory of a young boy who was killed in a hunting accident in 1904. Francis Joseph Sean Hughes (28 February 1956 – 12 May 1981) was a volunteer in the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) from Bellaghy, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. Hughes was the most wanted man in Northern Ireland until his arrest following a shoot-out with the Special Air Service (SAS) in which an SAS soldier was killed. At his trial, he was sentenced to a total of 83 years' imprisonment; he died during the 1981 Irish hunger strike in HM Prison Maze. Background Hughes was born in Bellaghy, County Londonderry on 28 February 1956 into a republican family, the youngest of four brothers in a family of ten siblings.
