Franklin Jewel Hickey (March 10, 1915 – December 8, 1993) was an American professional wrestler. Professional wrestling career Hickey began working in New York City for the World Wide Wrestling Federation in 1964. He wrestled against Bruno Sammartino, Bobo Brazil, Bill Watts, Pedro Morales, Arnold Skaaland Arnold Skaaland (January 21, 1925 – March 13, 2007) was an American professional wrestler and professional wrestling manager. Arnold Skaaland
Arnold Skaaland (January 21, 1925 – March 13, 2007) was an American professional wrestler and professional wrestling manager. Following a stint in the United States Marine Corps during World War II, Skaaland began wrestling in 1946 under his real name. Given the nickname “Golden Boy,” he became a part of the World Wide Wrestling Federation in 1963, and in 1967, won the WWWF United States Tag Team Championship with Spiros Arion. In 1978, Skaaland retired from in-ring competition and transitioned into a manager; unlike normal managers, he managed faces instead of heels. Skaaland's most notable clients include Bruno Sammartino and Bob Backlund. He later became a road agent for the WWF once he stopped managing, and was inducted into the WWF Hall of Fame in 1994. Jack Pfefer (also commonly spelled as "Pfeffer"; December 10, 1894 – September 13, 1974) was an American professional wrestling promoter during the early-to-mid twentieth century. He pioneered an earlier form of sports entertainment, as he was one of the first promoters to visualize the pro wrestling business in the mold of theater. However, he developed an infamous reputation when he exposed the sport's inner secrets to the mainstream press in a spiteful attack that nearly destroyed the entire industry. Early life Jacob Pfefer was born near Warsaw, Vistula Land (modern-day Poland) on December 10, 1894. He grew up under the control of the Russian Empire; and it was during this period when the Czars issued numerous decrees against Jews, resulting in a series of pogroms that killed thousands amidst increased anti-Semitism. The United States Wrestling Association (USWA) was a professional wrestling promotion based in Memphis, Tennessee. The company was founded when the Memphis-based Continental Wrestling Association merged with the Dallas-based World Class Wrestling Association. History Foundation The USWA was founded as an attempt to create a fourth national promotion, alongside Jim Crockett Promotions/WCW, AWA and the WWF (now known as WWE).
