It was published daily from 1 October 1917 until 14 November 1942, then tri-weekly until 13 July 1979, and later as a weekly, published on Tuesdays. Mount Alexander is a mountain located approximately 125 km north-west of Melbourne, near the town of Harcourt. It rises 350 metres above the surrounding area to a level of 744 metres above sea level. Being a prominent local landmark, the mountain has its name associated with the surrounding district once known as the Mount Alexander goldfields, and presently defined as the Shire of Mount Alexander, centred on Castlemaine. The Theatre Royal and Metropole Hotel is a heritage-listed building in Perth, Western Australia, located at 637–645 Hay Street, Perth, Hay Street. ''Quiz'' was a weekly newspaper published in Adelaide, South Australia from 1889 to 1910. Between 1890 and 1900 it was known as ''Quiz and The Lantern''. Publishing history The paper's first issue was published on 31 August 1889, the masthead proclaiming it to be "A satirical, social and sporting journal." It had 12 pages, priced 3d. The issue of Friday 13 June 1890 (Vol.1, No.42) was the first to bear the title ''Quiz and The Lantern''. ''The Lantern'' was a newspaper owned by Frank Skeffington Carroll from 1876 to 1882, then Charles F. Stansbury, who took on Charles A. Murphy as partner then took over E. H. Derrington's ''Adelaide Punch'' in 1884. "Autolycus" ( C. R. Wilton)'s comment was "Now that solemn publication has been swallowed up by the sprightly ''Quiz''. Criterion Theatre, Sydney
The Criterion Theatre was a theatre in Sydney, Australia which was built in 1886 by architect George R Johnson on the south east corner of Pitt and Park streets. It closed in 1935 and the building was demolished. History The Criterion Theatre often referred to as the 'Cri' opened on 27 December 1886. Situated on the south east corner of Pitt and Park streets, Sydney, it was funded by John Solomon and designed by architect George R Johnson. The 'Cri', was Sydney's most famous intimate playhouse at the time with a Neo-Renaissance exterior and a capacity of approximately 991 seats. The 'Cri' was used for drama and music performances for almost 50 years. It closed in 1935, partially as a result of the Depression and competition from the growth of cinemas and was demolished in 1935, to facilitate the widening of Park Street. The ''Fraser Coast Chronicle'' is an online newspaper serving the Fraser Coast area in Queensland, Australia. It was started as the Maryborough Chronicle, Wide Bay and Burnett Advertiser. History Charles Hardie Buzacott first published the ''Maryborough Chronicle, Wide Bay and Burnett Advertiser'' in Maryborough as a four-page tabloid, in his slab hut in Lennox Street in November 1860. It sold for sixpence and was read from Gayndah in the west and Childers in the north to Gympie in the south. In 1863, Buzacott sold his interests to William Swain Roberts and Joseph Robinson, who set out to "reflect the community's wants and opinions while boldly and distinctly enunciating our own views". As the rough river town turned into a respectable city, its newspaper became a bi-weekly in 1864, a tri-weekly in 1868 and a daily in 1882.
