Frank Evers (cartoonist)
Francis Joseph Evers (12 June 1920 – 24 October 2002) was an American cartoonist known for his editorial cartoons. Evers worked in comic books and magazine cartooning before establishing himself doing sports and editorial cartoons for newspapers. He provided editorial cartoons for ''Jersey Journal'', ''Hudson Dispatch The ''Hudson Dispatch'' was a newspaper covering events in Hudson and Bergen counties in Northern New Jersey. ''The Jersey Journal'' is a daily newspaper, published from Monday through Saturday, covering news and events throughout Hudson County, New Jersey. ''The Journal'' is a sister paper to ''The Star-Ledger'' of Newark, ''The Times'' of Trenton and the ''Staten Island Advance'', all of which are owned by Advance Publications, which bought the paper in 1945. History Founded by Civil War veterans William Dunning and Z. K. Pangborn, the ''Jersey Journal'' was originally known as the ''Evening Journal'' and was first published on May 2, 1867. The ''Hudson Dispatch'' was a newspaper covering events in Hudson and Bergen counties in Northern New Jersey. It published continuously from 1874 until 1991, when it was purchased by Newhouse Newspapers. Its headquarters were located at 400 38th Street in Union City. History The ''Hudson Dispatch'' was published in East Newark, New Jersey by Trelease, Simonds & Company as ''Harrison Dispatch'', starting around 1874. It moved to Jersey City in 1887, and relocated to Union Hill in 1890. Starting in the late 1970s, the staff of the ''Dispatch'' aggressively covered the notorious political corruption in Hudson and Bergen counties. The New York ''Daily News'', officially titled the ''Daily News'', is an American newspaper based in Jersey City, NJ. It was founded in 1919 by Joseph Medill Patterson as the ''Illustrated Daily News''. It was the first U.S. daily printed in tabloid format. National Cartoonists Society
The National Cartoonists Society (NCS) is an organization of professional cartoonists in the United States. It presents the National Cartoonists Society Awards. The Society was born in 1946 when groups of cartoonists got together to entertain the troops. They enjoyed each other's company and decided to meet on a regular basis. NCS members work in many branches of the profession, including advertising, animation, newspaper comic strips and syndicated single-panel cartoons, comic books, editorial cartoons, gag cartoons, graphic novels, greeting cards, magazine and book illustration. Only recently has the National Cartoonists Society embraced web comics. Brick Township is a township in Ocean County, New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the township had a population of 73,620, making it the state's 13th-largest municipality and the third most populous municipality in Ocean County behind Lakewood Township and Toms River, New Jersey, having seen a decline of 1,452 residents (−1.9%) from its population of 75,072 in the 2010 census. A majority of Brick Township is located on the mainland.
