Frank Eke
Frank Adiele Eke (27 June 1931 – 4 January 2013), was a Nigerian medical doctor and politician. He was the first Deputy Governor of Rivers State, serving from 1979 to 1983 under Governor Melford Okilo and the first Ikwerre man to study at the Harvard University USA, where he earned a Master of Public Health in 1972.https://nigerianimage.com/2021/08/13/his-majesty-amb-king-prof-sir-dr-frank-adele-eke/ He was from Woji. Deputy Governor Of Rivers State
The Deputy Governor of Rivers State is the second highest-ranking official in the executive branch of Rivers State, after the Governor. The Constitution of 1999 requires that the gubernatorial nominee of a party select his or her deputy governor running mate after the primary. The Deputy Governor's duties include assisting the Governor and replacing him or her in the case of death, resignation, removal, impeachment, absence or incapacity due to illness. Since 1999, individuals who have held this office have been members of the PDP. On 11 April 2015, former SSG Ipalibo Banigo was elected the 6th and 1st female Deputy Governor of Rivers State. Melford Okilo
Melford Obiene Okilo (30 November 1933 – 5 July 2008) had a long and distinguished career as a politician in Nigeria from the start of independence in 1960 until shortly before his death in 2008. He was a member of parliament (1956–1964) and a Minister in the Nigerian First Republic. He was the first elected Governor of Rivers State, Nigeria (1979–1983) during the Nigerian Second Republic. Later he was Senator for Bayelsa East, in Bayelsa State (1999–2003) during the Nigerian Fourth Republic. Early career Okilo was born on 30 November 1933 at Emakalakala, Ogbia, Bayelsa State, and was of Ijaw origin. He qualified as a lawyer, but entered politics at the age of 23. Peter Otunuya Odili (born 15 August 1948) was the third Governor of Rivers State in Nigeria from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007. Odili is a member of the former ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP).
