Frank Ed Mrvan Jr.
Frank Ed Mrvan Jr. (born April 11, 1933) is an American politician who served as a Democratic member of the Indiana Senate, representing the 1st District from 1979 to 1994 and again from 1998, until his retirement in 2022. Early life and education Mrvan was born in East Chicago, Indiana in 1933, the son of the late Frank Edward and the late Antonina (née Spychalski) Mrvan. He is of Polish and Czechoslovakian descent. Known as Frank Ed Mrvan, Jr, he attended Washington High School in East Chicago. He attended Indiana University Northwest and the American Institute of Banking. Mrvan enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving from 1952 to 1956. He served in the Korean War. He was an Airman 1st Class (E-3). Career Mrvan worked in industry and banking. Indiana's 1st Senate district is one of the fifty districts of the Indiana Senate. The district was originally based around Hammond and parts of surrounding areas. Redistricting passed by the Indiana General Assembly in 2011 shifted the district's boundaries, effective January 2013. Dyer is a town in St. John Township, Lake County, Indiana, United States. The population was 16,517 at the 2020 census. It is a southeastern suburb of Chicago. Geography Dyer borders Munster to the north, unincorporated St. John Township to the south, Schererville to the east, and Lynwood and Sauk Village in Illinois to the west. The Illinois state line comprises Dyer's entire western border. One of Dyer's neighborhoods, Briar Ridge, spans both Dyer and adjacent Schererville. Dyer is roughly 30 miles from downtown Chicago and 12 miles from Chicago's south side. Dyer is built on mostly flat land with an exception being the steep sand ridge south of US Highway 30. Peter John Visclosky ( ; born August 13, 1949) is an American politician who served as the U.S. representative for from 1985 until his retirement in 2021. He is a member of the Democratic Party and was the dean of the Indiana congressional delegation before his retirement in 2021. Crown Point is a city in and the county seat of Lake County, Indiana, United States. The population was 33,899 at the 2020 census. The city was incorporated in 1868.
