Frank Christian (trumpeter)
Frank Joseph Christian (September 3, 1887 – November 27, 1973) was an early jazz trumpeter. Career Frank Joseph Christian was born in the Bywater, New Orleans, Bywater neighborhood of downtown New Orleans, Louisiana. In an interview for Tulane University, Tulane's Hogan Jazz Archive, Jazz Archives, he described his family ancestry as "cayudle", a Louisiana Creole French, Creole French term for a mutt or mongrel. His brothers Charles (1886–1964) and Emile Christian also worked as professional musicians. Frank showed musical versatility at a young age, and was playing trumpet, clarinet, violin, and tuba professionally by his teens. He started working with bandleader Papa Jack Laine about 1908 and became a mainstay in Laine's bands. He also worked in the bands of Tom Brown (trombonist), Tom Brown, Johnny Fischer (band leader), Johnny Fischer, and led his own band. Frank Christian (singer-songwriter)
Frank Christian (born Frank P. Caputo, October 19, 1952 – December 24, 2012) was an American, Greenwich Village-based singer-songwriter and guitarist. His best-known song, "Three Flights Up" was recorded by Nanci Griffith for her Grammy award-winning 1992 release ''Other Voices, Other Rooms''. Christian also had much success as a sideman. He appeared on dozens of albums, backing such performers as Dave Van Ronk, Suzanne Vega, John Gorka, Nanci Griffith, and The Smithereens. He began his guitar studies with the jazz guitarist Roosevelt Span. He was a guitar teacher in New York City. Christian used to quip that if a person had studied blues guitar with Dave van Ronk and had absorbed everything Dave could teach them but still wanted to learn more, van Ronk would then send them to study with Frank Christian. Frank Christian (October 23, 1910 — December 8, 1969) was a NASCAR race car owner who owned a series of stock car vehicles from 1949 to 1955. Christian finished sixth in his only NASCAR race start (1949-03). He was also the husband of former NASCAR Grand National Series driver Sara Christian in addition to being a businessman and a provider of illegal alcoholic beverages. During his adult life, he resided in Atlanta, Georgia where he would base his legitimate businessman career from. Career As a pioneer in multi-car ownership, Christian would lead the way for the modern day "super teams" like Hendrick Motorsports. He earned $81,285 in monetary prizes as an owner ($ when adjusted for inflation) in addition to winning 22 races. Frank Claus Christian (28 April 1911 – 26 July 1988) was a Social Credit party member of the House of Commons of Canada. Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, he was a lawyer by career. He was first elected at the Okanagan Boundary riding in the 1957 general election. As he completed his only term, the 23rd Canadian Parliament, Christian stated that he would not seek re-election in the 1958 election due to the need to spend six or seven months a year from his family while in Parliament.
