Frank C. Osmers, Jr.
Frank Charles Osmers Jr. (December 30, 1907 – May 21, 1977) was an American Republican Party politician who represented New Jersey's 9th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives from 1939–1943 and again from 1951-1965. Biography He was born in Leonia, New Jersey on December 30, 1907. Osmers attended the local public schools and Williams College, Williamstown, Massachusetts. He was engaged in the jewelry business. Osmers was a member of the Haworth, New Jersey Borough Council from 1930–1934 and served as Mayor of Haworth, New Jersey in 1935 and 1936. He was a member of the New Jersey General Assembly from 1935–1937, and was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-sixth and to the Seventy-seventh Congress, serving in office from January 3, 1939 – January 3, 1943. Edward Aloysius Kenney
Edward Aloysius Kenney (August 11, 1884 – January 27, 1938) was elected to three terms in the United States House of Representatives from New Jersey, serving from 1933 until 1938. He died in office following an accidental fall from a window. Early life and education Kenney was born on August 11, 1884 in Clinton, Massachusetts and attended the public schools. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1902. He then graduated from Williams College in 1906, and from the law department of New York University in New York City in 1908. He was admitted to the New York State Bar Association in 1908 and commenced practice in New York City. He moved to Cliffside Park, New Jersey in 1916 and continued the practice of law. The Civil Rights Act of 1957 was the first federal civil rights legislation passed by the United States Congress since the Civil Rights Act of 1875. The bill was passed by the 85th United States Congress and signed into law by President Dwight D. Eisenhower on September 9, 1957. The Supreme Court of the United States, Supreme Court's 1954 ruling in the case of ''Brown v. Board of Education'' brought the issue of school desegregation to the fore of public attention, as Southern Democratic leaders began a campaign of "massive resistance" against desegregation. The name comes from the website's inclusion of burial locations of the deceased (when known). It is also a pun; where bodies are buried can refer to the politicians accused of crimes or touched by scandal. History The site was created in 1996 by Lawrence Kestenbaum, then an academic specialist at Michigan State University, and later on staff at the University of Michigan. Brookside Cemetery, Englewood
Brookside Cemetery is a historical cemetery in Englewood, New Jersey. History It was started in May 1876, by a group of Englewood residents who purchased of land for a cemetery. The property sits on the East side of Engle Street adjacent to Tenafly, New Jersey. The cemetery was named for the brook running beside its eastern boundary. A chapel built with the local pink sandstone was erected on East Palisades Avenue and dedicated in March 1860. It was the first Presbyterian Church in Englewood and the first in Bergen County, New Jersey. It had a seating capacity of 200, and was expanded to accommodate 800 people in 1880. In 1887, the chapel was donated to the cemetery, and moved, stone by stone, to its present site near the entrance gate to the east side of the cemetery. When the chapel was moved, and reconstructed, the building was rotated and the entrance moved from the west side of the building to the east side.
