Frank Bongiorno
Francis Robert Bongiorno, (born 1969) is an Australian historian, academic and author. He is a professor of history at the Australian National University, and was head of the university's history department from 2018 to 2020. Bongiorno is the President of the Australian Historical Association. Personal life & education Bongiorno was born in Nhill, Victoria to a "working class" family of two children. He moved Melbourne in the 1970s, attending a junior school in the northern suburbs. Bongiorno attended Parade College in Bundoora from 1981 to 1986 and was a contemporary of future Greens leader, Richard Di Natale. At school, Bongiorno was a member of the student representative committee and was awarded the prize for 'school spirit'. Nhill is a town in the Wimmera, in western Victoria, Australia. Nhill is located on the Western Highway, halfway between Adelaide and Melbourne. At the , Nhill had a population of 1,749. Geoffrey Norman Blainey (born 11 March 1930) is an Australian historian, academic, best selling author and commentator. He is noted for having written authoritative texts on the economic and social history of Australia, including '' The Tyranny of Distance''. He has published over 40 books, including wide-ranging histories of the world and of Christianity. He has often appeared in newspapers and on television. He held chairs in economic history and history at the University of Melbourne for over 20 years. In the 1980s, he was visiting professor of Australian Studies at Harvard University. The Australian Research Council (ARC) is the primary non-medical research funding agency of the Australian Government, distributing more than in grants each year. The Council was established by the ''Australian Research Council Act 2001'', and provides competitive research funding to academics and researchers at Australian universities.
