Frank Andrews (politician)
Frank Andrews (January 7, 1854 – November 11, 1924) was a farmer, educator and political figure in Nova Scotia, Canada. He represented Annapolis County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1886 to 1890 as a Liberal-Conservative member. He was born in Victoria Vale, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia, the son of John Andrews, who came to Nova Scotia from Cornwall, UK. Andrews was educated at Acadia College. He married Bertha Phinney from Massachusetts. For several years, Andrews was principal of a public school in Halifax. Andrews died in Victoria, British Columbia Victoria is the capital city of the Canadian province of British Columbia, on the southern tip of Vancouver Island off Canada's Pacific coast. Frank Andrews (Texas Lawyer)
Frank Andrews (June 15, 1864 – December 7, 1936) was the first Assistant Attorney General of Texas. Frank Andrews, son of Rev. Green Lee and Martha Ann (Sellers) Andrews, was born in Fayetteville, Texas. He received a bachelor's degree from Southwestern University in 1885. He joined the Texas bar in 1887, and served as the first Assistant Attorney General of Texas from 1891-1894. In 1895 he moved to Houston, Texas to establish a law practice. His major partners over the years included U.S. Congressman Thomas Henry Ball, Austin Appellate Judge Sam Streetman, Melvin Kurth, and Robert Kelly. His practice still bears his name today as Andrews & Kurth, L.L.P. During Frank Andrew's tenure he represented the Gulf Coast Lines railroad and its reorganization into the New Orleans, Texas & Mexico Railroad. The Warrens Of Virginia (1924 Film)
''The Warrens of Virginia'' is a 1924 American silent drama film directed by Elmer Clifton. It was produced and distributed by Fox Film Corporation. Plot As described in a review in a film magazine, Burton (Lytell) and Agatha Warren (Mansfield) were childhood sweethearts and grew up together. At the start of the Civil War, Burton becomes a Lieutenant in the Union Army while all of Agatha’s family are on the confederate side. After four years of fighting, a situation arose where General Lee’s confederate army was dependent upon the arrival of a supply train. The Union general, urging patriotism, persuades Burton to carry a false message when he goes to call on Agatha, arranging with a spy so that Burton would be captured by Confederate forces. The scheme works, the train is captured, and Lee surrenders to end the war. Furious at his perfidy, and considered as a spy, the Confederates led by Hill Buzzard take Burton out to be hanged. Frank Maxwell Andrews
Lieutenant General Frank Maxwell Andrews (February 3, 1884 – May 3, 1943) was a senior officer of the United States Army and one of the founders of the United States Army Air Forces, which was later to become the United States Air Force. In leadership positions within the Army Air Corps, he succeeded in advancing progress toward a separate and independent Air Force where predecessors and allies such as Billy Mitchell had failed. Andrews was the first head of a centralized American air force and the first air officer to serve on the Army's general staff. In early 1943, he took the place of General Dwight D. Eisenhower as commander of all U.S. troops in the European Theater of Operations. Andrews was killed in an airplane accident during an inspection tour in Iceland in 1943. He was the first of four lieutenant generals in the U.S. Army to die during the war, the others being Lesley J. McNair, Simon Bolivar Buckner, Jr. and Millard Harmon. Frank Mills Andrews (January 28, 1867 – September 3, 1948; aged 81) was an American architect born in Des Moines, Iowa, who practiced in Chicago, New York City, Cincinnati and Dayton. Andrews died in Brooklyn, New York. Known for designing the Flemish façade outside of the Dayton Arcade. inspired by a guild hall in Amsterdam, it quickly became an architectural staple in Dayton's downtown. Also designed the large 90 ft. wide by 70 ft. tall dome on top of the marketplace building within the Arcade. Biography Andrews studied civil engineering at Iowa State College in Ames and architecture at Cornell University, where he was graduated with an A. B. degree in 1888. Frank Andrews Shimkus (born 1952) is a retired broadcaster and Democratic politician in Pennsylvania. Shimkus grew up in the High Works neighborhood of Scranton. He graduated from the University of Scranton in 1973 with a degree in English. He then went into broadcasting, despite the misgivings of his father (who thought broadcasters were carnies). After working as an announcer at WEJL in Scranton and WCAU in Philadelphia, he went into television. He served as an anchor and reporter at WNEP-TV in Scranton from 1980 to 1998, doubling for much of that time as news director. After a brief two-year hiatus, he moved to WYOU as anchor and assistant news director. During his broadcasting career, he was known on-air as "Frank Andrews." While still at WNEP, Shimkus earned a master's degree in theology from Antietam Bible College in 1993 and a doctorate in biblical studies from the same institution two years later.
