Frank G. Anderson (May 24, 1928 – September 28, 1983) was an American gridiron football player. Career He played professional Canadian football with the Edmonton Eskimos and college football at the University of Oklahoma. At Oklahoma, Anderson played under head coach Bud Wilkinson. The Sooners lost only three games during Anderon's tenure, from 1947 to 1950. The Sooners won consecutive Sugar Bowls in 1949 and 1950. Anderson was named All-American in 1950. Anderson joined fellow Sooner Claude Arnold in Edmonton for the 1952 season. Anderson played from 1952 to 1957 with the Edmonton Eskimos, during which time, he earned the nickname "Blood & Guts" for his tough on field performance. During his time with the Eskimos, Anderson was a five-time defensive All-star. During his tenure, the Eskimos played in the 1952 Grey Cup, losing to the Toronto Argonauts. Committee Of Fifty (1906)
This Committee of Fifty, sometimes referred to as Committee of Safety, Citizens' Committee of Fifty or Relief and Restoration Committee of Law and Order, was called into existence by Mayor Eugene Schmitz during the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. The Mayor invited civic leaders, entrepreneurs, newspaper men and politicians—but none of the members of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors—to participate in this committee in whose hands the civil administration of San Francisco would rest. Schmitz thought it necessary to form this body to manage the crisis during the disaster, although there was no legal basis for it. Frank Maloy Anderson (February 3, 1871 – April 26, 1961) was an author, historian and professor of history. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska and spent most of his adult life teaching and writing about American and Western European history. He was a prolific writer for ''The American Historical Review'' and is noted among American Civil War historians for his book ''The Diary of a Public Man''. Life He taught history at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis from 1895-1896. The following year he attended Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts from 1896-1897. William Francis Anderson (born 1945) is an English former rugby union international. Born in Ormskirk, Anderson was educated at Hutton Grammar School. Anderson, a prop, played his early rugby at Southport and Ormskirk, before making his way to Orrell in the late 1960s. He was part of an Orrell team that dominated Lancashire rugby and was the club's first international representative. Frank Anderson (born February 14, 1959) is an American college baseball coach and former outfielder. He is the pitching coach at the University of Tennessee. Anderson played college baseball at Mid-Plains Junior College from 1979 to 1980 and University of Nebraska at Kearney from 1981 to 1982. He served as the head coach at Oklahoma State University from 2004 to 2013. Frank Ross Anderson (1928–1980) was a Canadian chess master and writer. He twice won the gold medal at Chess Olympiads for the best score on Board 2. He also tied for first at the 1953 Canadian Chess Championship and won the title again in 1955. Biography Anderson learned to play chess while bedridden as a child with rheumatoid arthritis in Toronto. He began with correspondence chess, at which he quickly became a strong player. He was encouraged by chess promoter Bernard Freedman (who became his first sponsor), his good friend Keith Kerns, and later by John G. Prentice, who served as Canada's FIDE representative. Frank Anderson (23 October 1913 – 6 March 1997) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Carlton Football Club, Carlton in the Australian Football League, VFL. Anderson was born at Glenhuntly and attended school at West Brunswick. He started his career at Brunswick as a forward but later played most of his football in defence. He was a premiership player with Carlton in 1938 and a Victorian interstate representative in 1941. Anderson finished second in Carlton's best and fairest on three separate occasions.
